FINALLY A DRAGON RIDER

DAYS HAD PASSED; Marcus had made us train everyday, using all the machines, fighting with him to test our abilities.

We were so exhausted on a daily basis we could barely talk when it came time to eat.

"I think it's about time we get to things more appropriate for dragon riders," Marcus said one hot day when we'd finally finished the majority of our daily warm up exercises.

"What have we been doing all this time then?"

Simon asked disappointedly.

Marcus had started to praise us on our 'progress', he'd said that we were getting better at everything he'd taught us, from sword combat to basic combat, but we still had the areas, which we were best at.

According to him, I was getting better at basic combat but was better off using archery or knife combat, he'd told Oscar how good he was in sword combat and it was true, Oscar could beat Marcus in that, he was strong and clever, which he used to his advantage in the skill, after all you'd expect nothing less from a prince.

Peter on the other hand was good at throwing knives, it was amazing how accurate he was and I had to admit it was something I thought he could never possibly do.

Lastly there was Simon, Simon wasn't at all into fighting and liked to spend his days searching for herbs, he was after all very good at making medicine and finding good spices for our food, but since Marcus wanted us all to learn to fight he'd found Simon something he was good at and enjoyed to an extent.

It was using a slingshot.

Simon seemed to like throwing rocks, he said he liked that it wasn't strong enough to kill someone, but you could distract them or knock them out, I guess that's what he liked about it; other than the times when he get to shoot rocks at Oscar, Peter and I.

"We've been preparing you to fight!" Marcus answered Simon, "but now it's time you learned something to do with dragons.

Don't you think it's about time you learned to fly?"

Marcus's smile was cheeky and made me as anxious as I was with Peter.

We were going to fly?

On dragons?

"Don't look like it's that shocking, Alexandra."

"Sorry, it's just-"

"Are you afraid of heights?" Peter cut in with a cheeky grin.

"No!"

I would show him!

I was going to do this!

"Good, let's get on then."
