Chapter 8: Missing In Action

Before Madness: (Madeline forest). Carly's Pov:

"Someone heard our conversation!

I thought I blocked it so only our blood could get in!" I think for a second. "Not to say your stupid but the only possible person that could've gotten in was amethyst. You had her necklace therefore she could have gotten in," he says with a sigh.

"You're her friend therefore you should know where she would go," he says, closing his book.

"Well, maybe she went back to her room?" I say walking towards the stairs to get up to our floor when we get there the dorm door is wide open and her dresser and clothes and potions are gone. And the room looks ransacked.

"She left just like I thought," Rain says leaning on the door frame.

"Your words are not needed right now rain," I say walking out of our dorm following the trail of dusted footsteps. Down the stairs. I see amethysts white hair down my madness cliff. " Rain! She's down my Madness Cliff!" yelled up the stairs as I bolted down the stairs to get too amethyst then I could explain why we hid it from her or at least why I hid it from her. I Get at least 24 meters away from her when she starts descending down the cliff and slips with the last of what I see of her is her use of magic to set her cat up into the air and land on the top of the cliff. I hear rock and trees snap as she falls and the souls screaming at the madness forest swallows her up. The crows flock out of the void and branches. Rain walks up behind and catches up. "Where is she if you saw her down here "He says, grabbing mellow off the ground. "Where do you think she went, you big dumbass," I say to his face as I snatch the cat out of his arms. " You don't have the right to hold her cat after you didn't even help me stop her from going into her own nightmares. You realize that she might not come out right? So whatever Sick Twisted crush you have on her it won't work! You burnt your bridge!" I say pushing him further and further towards the edge of the cliff without me realizing it. "If you just let me explain please!" He says standing his ground. "Look I know things don't add up but I was only trying to help and it might not seem that way, but those people aren't her parents Persephone and

Artemis is her caretaker and something happened to both of them. It was like they got hit with the curse of the looking glass. They only wanted to use her for evil. So Melinoë, Persephone's daughter, set her to earth knowing that it was her best chance. There was more to that spell I did but I couldn't see it with ''Am there." He says. 

I don't wanna believe him but he has that sorta charm that makes him annoyingly trustworthy. " I don't believe you but I don't have a choice but if you wanna prove that you're not terrible and have plans against us then you should go get her from Madeline forest. " I say putting the cat in his arms and teleporting a backpack on his back...

"I was planning on getting her anyways, you realize this right?" Rain says creating fire stepping stones down to the bottom of Madeline forest. Lizzy runs up behind us and shoves us down into the forest and Lizzy falls with us.

When we awake from the fall we are all scraped up a bit, we all broke each other's fall. A few feet from here we see where Amethyst fell. Sticks as twigs everywhere. I called out for Amethyst but nothing but the echo of my voice and the screaming of the dead souls here.

"I don't think we will find anything Carly," Rain says, getting off the ground and brushing off his pants and shirt from dirt.

"Well don't you state the obvious" I speak sarcastically getting up as well and picking up mellow and brushing off dirt

Well, that landing hurt like hell however if we don't fix the rain mess up then we are gonna have a huge issue with gods. However, right now we have bigger issues like a runaway goddess with no control of her powers.

"So. Now that we've been walking for a bit of time and it's been completely silent, what are you thinking about?" Rain says kicking up some dirt on the ragged old beat-up path.

"What if we can't find her. Or if she dies here it would be our fault, and I don't think I could handle that I'd, i-i, i-i couldn't forgive myself," I say muttering out of guilt and shame.

Rain waits a bit before saying anything any again like he's waiting for the right thing to pop into his head.

"I wouldn't be able to live with it either, but I don't think she's as weak as we like to think she is. When I fought her I felt all her energy and not just sitting there, it's growing and expanding like a plant getting sunlight after starvation. She will and can make it. If she does not, she owes me." I hear rain chuckle behind me as it lifts my spirits. 

Honestly, I wasn't expecting rain to cheer me up since he's always been difficult to be around. Maybe Amethyst is good for him in some way, although if he does like her he's digging his own grave but ya know maybe he's just... confused? No cant be he's a dork. Nope, he's still difficult. Always will and will be forever.

Soon enough we make it out of the madness forest in one piece. And it's dark and we can't see a thing so we figure it's best to call it a night and we set up camp and get some rest after a stressful day.  Tomorrow will be better
