Chapter 47: past and present
Harry’s POV
There’s never been a time where I’ve been so excited. Not when my mum bought me my first car, not when I first tried alcohol, heck, not even when I dated Caroline Flack. But Ali agreeing to coming into my room with me made me reach my peak of excitement. And I don’t even know why.
I always thought I was over her. I thought I was through the drastic feelings I got in Australia. Yeah, she was on my mind throughout the whole time we were away but I only thought of her because of what Louis did. Man, I remember how enraged I was when I heard him say that. I had to put on an impassive mask for the camera but inside my heart was pounding with rage and my blood was boiling with anger.
*FLASHBACK*
Sitting on this plush maroon couch reminded me of the cream leather ones in Ali’s house. Man, I missed her. I missed her as a friend, not as a crush. I’ve moved on, I swear. I moved on for louis because Ali is Louis’. As much as I hated that, I respect it. Sure, I wanted her to be mine but he was his.
And there goes my mind. I tried to focus back on the interview. I look at the interviewer who was wearing a beige suit with a light blue button down shirt, a midnight blue tie and brown leather shoes.
‘So you all came from Australia, right?’ The interviewer said just as I zoned back in. My face broke out into a small smile.
‘Yeah, we did. We met lovely people.’ Liam answered. The most loveliest, i thought.
‘And Louis, I’m sure you met a certain lovely person.’ The interviewer said in a suggestive tone. My smile faltered a little and so I put on a blank face.
‘Yeah.’ Louis deadpanned. I felt my head shoot straight to his face. He had absolutely no expression, he didn’t look like he was in a faraway state or he was in love. He told all of us he loved her, why does he not look like he misses her or he was thinking of her?
‘You tweeted she was your girlfriend, didn’t you?’ The interviewer continued on, obviously looking confused at the way Louis answered him. You and me both, man, I thought.
‘Yeah, but that was all a joke. We were just messing around. It was one of those times when you stay in a certain place for a while and you meet new people that you really do get along with.’ He said in that same blank tone. I kept my face expressionless but I can feel my blood boiling. Did he tell her about this!? Does he even talk to her at all!?
‘So, you’re saying it was an Australian fling?’ The guy summarised.
‘Yeah, I guess you could say that.’ Louis chuckled slightly.
I clenched my hands into fists. He definitely didn’t mention any of this. i could feel Zayn and Niall confused but not angry like me. I was angry because he’s saying all of this when he told Ali something completely different. Ali isn’t someone you mess your feelings with. if you love her you love her, there’s no going back on that. But you have to know what you really feel like before you tell her. You can’t just lead her on. But that’s what Louis did. Even if me and Ali are a thousand miles away i know she’ll be heartbroken if she watches this interview. That’s when I sent a silent prayer that she doesn’t watch this interview.
I didn’t listen after that I just sat quietly, pondering over my thoughts.
Finally, the interview was over. I smiled at the interviewer and we walked off when they called cut. I walked right behind Louis to the dressing room. My fists were clenching and unclenching. Once we were in the safe, sound-proof room, I spoke out.
