A few days later
"Eady,"
"Osten."
"Is it true?"
"Is what true?"
"That you're marrying Kile?"
"Shh. Don't say that so loud. People can't know." I said quietly
"So it is true!"
"Yeah."
"That's so exciting! Kile will be part of the family!"
"Osten if you don't lower your voice I swear."
"Sorry, sorry." He whispered
"And you can't tell any of the other boys."
"I won't."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Okay good. Now run along. I have things to do."

Throughout the day I went on 3 more dates. I think I want to send all three of those boys home. I didn't connect with them.I walked into Kile's room and just laid on his bed with my arms and legs out like a starfish
"You okay over there?" He asked with an amused tone. I just groaned in response. "I'll take that as a yes." I picked my head up and made a face at him
"I'm so tired. I went on 3 dates. We went horseback riding, we watched a movie, and we did archery. And I had to pretend to actually be interested the whole time. That takes a lot out of you." I said looking up at the ceiling
"Oh yes I'm sure, so tiring to have fun." He said playfully
"I'm serious Kile."
"So am I."
"I want to send the three of them home."
"So send them home." He said
"I have to wait until after The Report- wait. Time?"
"Four thirty. Why?"
"I have to start getting ready. I forgot that it's Friday."
"So what am I supposed to say? I mean now that you've decided. Do I just have to pretend like we're not going to get married?"
"Yes. And I can't show any favoritism."
"Good luck." He teased and I rolled my eyes
"What are you doing?"
"Drawing."
"I see that. What are you drawing this time?"
"A building."
"Really? I had no idea." I said sarcastically and stood up and walked over to him
"I know, completely unlike me." He teased and looked up at me, "Eady, what if we had a house?"
"A house?"
"Yeah. Someplace to go that's away from the palace. Where we can be normal people. No maids. No butlers. No cooks. And no guards inside. It can be in Carolina, where your mom grew up." He handed me the paper he had just been drawing on. On the page was a floor plan for a two story house with a porch in the front and a small garden.
"Why are there so many bedrooms?"
"You plan on having kids one day, do you not?"
"I do."
"It will be a place where we can bring our kids and they will be treated like normal kids. Not royalty. Where they can run around in the backyard without being watched by trained guards."
"Our kids." I repeated, still looking at the paper
"Did I cross a line?" He put his hand on mine and I looked at him
"No. Not at all. I just never thought that far. Our kids."
"So, what do you think of the house?"
"I think its an amazing idea- is that a pool?"
"It is. I know you've been wanting a pool forever." He looked up to me and I smiled, "Do you like it?"
"I really do."
"I've drawn it a few times but none of them felt right." He said getting up and walked over to the table next to his couch
"How does this one feel?" I asked as he walked back over holding a file folder
"Better than the rest." He moved the chair away and stood next to me. He opened the folder and spread out the other sketches he had drawn, "See, I started with a three story house but it didn't feel right. It was too big. Don't you think?"
"Yeah. Especially if we are trying to get away from the over the top palace we live in now." I agreed
"That's what I was thinking too." He handed me another drawing, "This was the most recent one before the one I'm doing now. It's a two story house but it just didn't feel right. It felt like something was missing."
"The pool."
"Yeah."
"How long have you been working on these?"
"A week or two."
"Really?" I looked up at him to see him already looking at me
"It started off as more of a small fantasy but I didn't get my hopes up too much." He shrugged
"Do you think we would've realized how we feel about each other without having the Selection?"
"I think we are both too stubborn to have given us any kind of chance. We barely gave each other the time of day." He took a step closer to me
"Kile." I said, not looking away from him
"Eady. Why are you acting like we've never kissed before?"
"This feels different for some reason. It feels like the beginning of our future."
"So how about we start it." He said softly as his lips brushed against mine then he leaned in and kissed me. He put one hand on my lower back and the one behind my neck, pulling me closer and kissing me harder
I stopped kissing him, "What's your middle name?" I asked against his lips
"What?" He pulled his head back to look at me
"Your middle name." I repeated
"You said yourself that you have to start getting ready." He raised his eyebrow at me
"Kile, what is your middle name?" I asked one more time
"Not today, Eady." He said softly and rubbed my cheek with his thumb
"Kile Woodwork!" I groaned
"Eadlyn Schreave!" He laughed at me
"You make me so angry."
"Ah yes, there's the Eadlyn I know. I was beginning to think that your view on me had completely changed."
"No. You'll still always be that annoying boy who I was forced to be friends with no matter what our future looks like."
