Chapter 38: Offer

Hana's POV:

As soon as I walked in, Dae and Joheun came flocking towards me-

"Welcome back Hana" Joheun pulled me in for a hug that turned into a chokehold.

"Since when did you have a boyfriend?!" Dae asked in a hushed tone, "Is that the same guy you ran out with the other day??".

I was struggling to get out of the chokehold.

"You knucklehead- you're asking as if she wasn't in the middle of being choked" Joheun let go of me.

I finally got out and caught my breath-

"He's my friend, idiots" I shoved both of them out of the way.

It felt weird to call him just a friend- not that we weren't friends, it just felt... anticlimactic.

"You're 20 minutes late to your shift Eun-Hana"

-Miss Yi confronted me with her arms crossed, "do I need to fire you or do you have a good enough excuse for me?".

I gulped and began to fidget with the rim of my skirt.

"... Please don't fire me... ?" I nervously said.

Miss Yi's cold stare turned into a warm expression.

"I'm just playing around- put your uniform on and get to work" she laughed.

We awkwardly laughed as Miss Yi left the room.

As soon as we heard her footsteps disappear, we let out a sigh.

"Oh- by the way, it's not as busy tonight" Dae told me.

"All our regulars came in this morning so now it's kind of empty" Joheun sat down and pulled out her phone.

That sucks, it's going to be boring.

"So what? Do we just wait around until someone comes in?" I asked.

"Yeah" they said in unison.

And we did exactly that.

Miss Yi did end up making us help around by washing the dishes or taking out the trash.

"An order for Min-" Joheun began to say, "How do you pronounce this?"

My head shot up as I imagined all the worst case scenarios.

Minho?

Did he follow me here? Oh no...

Now he knows I have a job.

Now he knows where I work.

"Oh, it's Minji idiot- did you forget how to read?" Dae made fun of Joheun.

A wave of relief rushed through me.

It's just Minji. Calm down.

"I'll take this one Hana- get some sleep" Dae got my attention.

Sleep?

"What? No, I'll get it don't worry-"

"Your dark circles say otherwise, we'll cover for you,  sleep in the corner or something" Joheun and Dae walked out of the back room.
