I still remember it clearly.
It was a Friday.
Mere hours before our weekend began.
So far everything was going well, Yeonjun and I were Emmy nominee worthy actors, and no one suspected a thing.
"What are you doing later today?" Donghyun asked as we sat down at our lunch table.
Homework? No, I finished it all.
"Nothing. Why?" I asked.
"I was hoping you'd go to this restaurant with me, you know, like a date" Donghyun cheekily smiled.
I slowly took a sip of my milk as I processed what he said.
That's... so cute.
I chuckled and nodded.
"That sounds nice" I smiled back.
Things with Donghyun seemed so much better now, honestly.
Putting a label on it still felt weird, considering the fact that not much had changed from when we were just friends.
But pushing that aside- I was finally starting to feel like we were an actual couple.
It had been nearly a week since I hung out with Donghyun outside of school, so I started to really look forward to our date plans.
The last period bell rang, and I sprinted to my locker.
Donghyun must be waiting outside already.
I raced down the stairs to the front entrance.
And I stood there.
I turned my head excitedly, hoping to meet eyes with Donghyun at any second.
And I stood there.
I started to tap my foot to help pass time.
And I stood there.
I looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of him. I was growing confused... and desperate.
And I stood there.
While the few remaining students leaving passed by me.
And I stood there.
Until I was the last student outside.
My hands trembled.
Not just because I was mad, but because I was disappointed, where are you?
I looked down at my phone as it began to ring.
It was Donghyun!
I quickly picked up-
He must have stayed back a bit for student council, it's fine.
"Hey, Hana. I can't make it today, sorry. But I was-"
I lowered my phone from my ear,
And hung up on him.
A heavy pit grew in my gut.
I was so genuinely disappointed and upset.
My sore shoulders sulked as I let my backpack's weight cave.
Why'd you make plans with me then ?
I rapidly brushed away my anger and took a second to breathe in.
Something must've come up.
