Chapter 11: Choco Muffin

"Where were you and Eun-Hana this morning? Was it really urgent? Huening Kai asked me.

I gulped.

Somehow, I couldn't bring myself to speak. Why? I don't know. It's not as if I had done something horrible, I had helped Hana look for a very important permission slip.

If I know that, why can't I say it?

Huening Kai began to giggle, "Calm down, you just seemed very suspicious during P.E." Huening Kai explained himself, and his now cute tone honestly relieved me.

"I didn't want to ask at first because I thought it may have been something very personal, but considering your reaction, it probably isn't" Huening Kai said, poking my cheek, kiddingly.

I scoffed and pushed his arm gently away from me, "I was just helping Hana find her permission slip" I finally told Huening Kai.

"So you two are on a first name basis! I had no idea people called her 'Hana'. When did the two of you even become friends?" Huening Kai said as he sat down, as if ready for a story time.

That got me thinking... would Hana consider me a friend?

"Actually," I said as I grinned, "I met her this morning".

"This morning?," Huening Kai said in disbelief, "So you're telling me two complete strangers just went on an adventure one Tuesday morning, knowing damn well they had to be in class?"

"Yeah...?" I admitted to Huening Kai as I took a seat on the ground, aside him.

Huening Kai started to laugh, "you better not have just used her as an excuse to leave school" Huening Kai told me as he looked over at me.

I tilted my head and turned to Huening Kai, "I'm not that much of a jerk-"

"She was quiet and intimidating at first, I can admit that, but she's a nice girl," Huening Kai said, "She- she's Huening Kai approved." Huening Kai said as he patted me on the back.

"You can't- what do you mean 'Huening Kai approved', what are you playing at?" I asked in genuine confusion.

"I am a certified third wheeler" Huening Kai stood up and put his hand up to his chest, "I know a connection when I see one."

"Connection?! Hyuka! I met her this morning! You have to stop messing around!!!" I said aloud, I couldn't help but laugh at his childishness.

"What did you eat this morning? Are you feeling okay?" I muttered to Huening Kai while I checked his forehead for a fever.

"You have a free period right?" Huening Kai asked with his hand out to help me up.

"Yeah, what about it?" I answered, taking his hand, up.

"Never mind, tell us the whole story during lunch" Huening Kai said walking to the door.

"Us?" I asked.

I suddenly heard shuffling and people silently bickering outside the door.

Huening Kai's eyes widened and he looked over to the door, and reached for it.

I beat him to the door, opening it, and there was Beomgyu, Soobin, and Taehyun falling over after having their ear up to the door, listening in on our conversation.

Huening Kai started laughing in his iconic dolphin laugh.

"Sure, I'll tell you guys the whole adventure later" I said as I chuckled, and went back to get my stuff.
