Chapter 14
Drunk problems and Brotherly Advice
NATHAN.
A day before I turn 22.
The guys decided to throw me a huge party at a local pub here in Connecticut, just before we leave for Pennsylvania. We were doing one show after another, so a little break felt nice.
"Is Alex on?" I asked wearily, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
"Mm-hm. Come on here." Tom replied.
"Hi guys," she said, as I sat down. She looked only half-awake, dressed in a sweatshirt. Her hair had a few locks sticking out here and there, and she had the facial expression of somebody not happy she was woken up at six am.
And she probably is.
"What is it now that's so important you just had to WAKE ME UP AT SIX AM IN MY REST DAY?" She asked once again, glaring at us.
"We have come to ask for your permission." Jay said simply, taking a sip of his coffee.
She yawned. "Right. What is this fuckery you're about to get into again?"
"We want to throw a bachelor party," Max blurted out.
She got a surprised expression on her face. "Is someone getting married?"
"No, it's for Nath's birthday."
"I thought those things were for men about to be robbed of their freedom by marriage?"
"Lol. We just want to call it that," Jay shrugged.
"And? What now?"
"WeNeedYourPermissionToThrowThisPartyBecauseWeKnowHowMuchYouHateNathanGettingDrunkAnd-"
"You're asking permission from me, above anyone else? Shouldn't you be asking for Management's consent first?"
"Oh, we already did," Tom said, giving her a dismissive wave of his hand.
She tapped her chin. "What's gonna go down?"
"Oh, I dunno," Jay mused out loud, probably just being sarcastic. "Beer pong, lots of booze and drinking to our heart's content."
She gave us the 'Not bad' look. "No strippers?"
"Absolutely no strippers. Just finely dressed hot women. Oh, and fyi, Big Kev's gonna be there."
She smirked. "Right. Nothing's gonna stop you anyway, so... Alright-"
We burst into yells and cheers.
"BUT," She raised her voice, immediately getting our attention. "But, I have a few, err, compromises."
We all sat down.
"Listen, don't try to get too drunk, aight?"
We nodded.
"And Nathan," she turned to me. Her expression softened. "CONTROL. YOURSELF."
Her emerald green stare bore into my soul, captivating me, like the first time I saw them.
"I..." I cleared my throat. "Yes ma'am."
"Right. Gtfo, I need sleep. Talk to you guys later." She yawned, hanging up on us.
I shrugged. I'm never gonna interrupt her beauty sleep again.

"CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!" The crowd chanted as Jay downed another bottle of beer. The other guys were also having the time of their lives, while I sat here, on the sidelines, taking tiny sips from the red solo cup I was currently holding. I was getting a tiny bit tipsy, the effects of the alcohol starting to kick in.
