Chapter 22

Not the Right Time for Arguments

NATHAN.

I slowly opened my eyes. My head was pounding, and everything was blurry. I could make out sunlight streaming through the huge windows, a polished wooden floor, and... a girl. Peering over me.

Her long, blonde hair was tied back in a messy ponytail, she wore a crisp, white, polo shirt over colored shorts, and when I looked into her eyes, I fully expected green ones... not blue.

I placed a hand to my temple and blinked to look at everything clearer.

"Alex?" I mumbled, hoping she would say yes, and that she would say she was only wearing contact lenses, and dyed her hair.

The girl sighed and shook her head. "Nathan, I'm not Alex. I'm Alicia. Alicia Burke. You met me at the club."

I sat up and felt everything spin around me. I definitely drunk too much last night. This is one hell of a hangover.

One thing I also noticed:

Where the hell are my clothes?

I was only in my boxers.

What exactly happened last night?

I blinked again to clear my vision. Alicia stared at me with a blank expression.

She was gorgeous, but Alex was my description of beautiful.

"I laid out clothes for you, they're in the bathroom. Your old ones are folded in my car. Get cleaned, dress up, then come to the dining room for breakfast. I'll meet you there." She said briefly, walking out of the room.

I am fucked.

~

I hate awkward silences.

I sat there, in the dining room, with Alicia sitting in front of me. She didn't seem to feel bothered by my presence. She just typed into her phone and took tiny bites from her cereal. She didn't look up at me once.

"Alicia?" I said, clearing my throat. "What... what happened, last night?"

She sighed. "Do you seriously want to know?"

"Yeah."

"Well," She stared me straight in the eyes. "You still remember going into the club, right?"

"Yep."

"Do you remember drinking a lot of liquor?"

Oh. So my suspicion was true.

She sighed, taking my silence as a no. "Well, you did. Then I walked up to the bar, and you started talking to me. Then we hit it off. Then an intense make-out session hap-"

"WHAT?!"

"YES! I even asked you if you had a girlfriend, then you said you didn't know! Nathan, you're in deep shit right now."

I buried my head in my hands. "Oh my god. Can we just go now?"

She shrugged, then stood up and took our plates to the kitchen sink.

She winked at me. "Certainly. Good luck, Nath."

~

Alicia pulled up to the flat. My heart was pounding. I don't even know how I can face them.

It wasn't generally cheating, I wasn't going out with Alicia. But a heavy pang of guilt weighed me down. I don't even know if I could look at Alex.

Alex.

God, please help me.

"Well?" Alicia said, clearing her throat.
