viii. sabaody archipelago arcIt was unbelievable on how they were just on time.
"Sanji! Zoro! Why don't you guys find Usopp, he's kinda missing at the moment." Nami suggested, obviously trying so hard not to raise any suspicions. She still had a million of questions for Shoto, but her main concern at the moment was to avoid a ruckus.
Shoto blinked at the two, honestly glad to see his crewmembers again, he was about to raise his hand and wave to greet them, but Nami had already pushed them out the door just as they noticed that a crewmember was finally back. They got no say to it despite their jaws agape, visibly wanting to say something if it were not for the bossy woman.
"Now that that's out of the way," Nami clasped her hands, she then approached the surgeon in question. "What do you think you're doing proposing to an 18 year old boy?" The tangerine haired female glared.
Trafalgar Law only clicked his tongue and looked away, ignoring the female. So, he has to deal with this now? He's only in luck that the rest of the crewmembers were not present.
Bepo came to save the day, apparently.
"He says that it wasn't his intentions." The polar bear translated his Captain's actions, which was quite impressive since he managed to read the stoic man.
"Right, because offering a ring is totally unintentional." Nami hissed.
"Don't worry, I'm not planning to do anything with Icey-ya." Law turned, reeking off his cold demeanor. "He's still too young, and I'm not that reckless to establish a relationship with a person a lot younger than me."
"Meaning, you still plan to in 2 years, correct?"
There was no illegal form of relationships in this world, and it was totally up to someone's morality if they want to be wicked and twisted. But Law was not that type of person, he has his standards and while Shoto is the standard-- it's too soon.
He just met the boy today and he's not a sick man to hit on teenagers when he was nearly in his mid 20's. In conclusion, he doesn't fall in love that fast.
Plus, marriage was way out of his agenda. They're just going to go on their different ways anyway, there was no point-- especially when they belonged in two different crews.
"Maybe in another world." Law shrugged. He was seriously starting to agitate Nami who was already fuming and emitting smoke.
"Marriage doesn't actually mean paying a debt or returning a favor, doesn't it?" Shoto questioned the person who wore the other ring. Law shifted his attention towards the younger male. He guessed that this was Shoto's understanding of the whole ordeal.
"Not exactly."
"Then why did you suggest it?"
"I thought you wouldn't accept."
There was silence. They were both composed and Nami just realized how compatible they were, despite the misunderstanding between both of them-- they didn't fight or argue, both were mature enough to avoid such things. But that was beside the point.
"Do you want to return the ring?" Law managed to muster out with an arch of his brow, and it seems like Shoto was staring deep in his soul through his eyes, and for a minute of pondering, he shook his head.
"I'll keep it." The heterochromatic decided with a small hint of a smile.
Law was surprised once more, Shoto still wanted to go through it. Nonetheless, he felt a smirk grace his face as he looked back at the stage, ignoring the boost of serotonin he suddenly got after seeing his smile.
