"97, are you sure about this?" 94 asked hesitantly, scared of possibly pissing off the man in front of him.
He should have kept his mouth shut. The male in front of him snapped his head up, absolute ferity in his eyes. He looked like he was about to punch 94. "What the fuck does it look like? If I wasn't sure about it, do you think I would risk my entire career over this? Or are you doubting my skills, 94?", the man was trying trying to heave a door open that was obviously blocked by an object on the other side.
94 desperately waved his hands in front of his chest, in no mood for a one-on-one fight with his superior. 97 was known for his agility and intelligence. Nobody dared to ever question him, lest it triggered his anger. That was evidently his only flaw.
"I'm just saying you didn't tell 941 about this mission. Don't you think he could provide us with reinforcement?"
97 stopped pushing against the door altogether, turning around. 94 was sure his patience had finally snapped. He thanked the Gods for letting him live until then. He was sure he was about to be obliterated right there.
"Listen.", 97 poked his finger into 94's chest, emitting a whimper from the inferior, but 97 was oddly calm. "I don't need help from 941. I'm sure I can handle this by myself perfectly. Though, it would be quicker if you actually helped me instead of uselessly trying to hinder my progress.", he said, ignoring the fact that there was no progress visible.
He paid no further mind to 94 as he tried to push the door again.
"Why don't you just kick the door open, Sir?", 94 asked after a few eerie minutes of fruitless trying.
97 pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "Did you forget we can't have the owner of the property know about our presence? The sound of kicking down the door might alert the guards behind the door. Pushing is less risky. Now fucking help me."
This time, 94 nodded heftily, putting his backpack filled with necessities and gear aside.
Both men desperately pushed against the heavy door.
It finally moved and 97 sighed in relief. With more confidence, they pushed the door open to create a gap big enough for them to slip through.
94 managed to grab the backpack before the door fell shut again.
The room behind the door was a huge storage hall.
Rows of racks were lined up along the path in the middle and were filled with supplies 97 assumed were needed for the trade. It was the source of the owner's illegally obtained wealth.
One couldn't see the contents of the supplies due to the boxes they were placed in, but it was safe to say they were filled to the brink with weapons and drugs, ready to be supplied all around the world. 97's investigators had already done thorough research about this place. It was a mystery to 97 why they'd keep such illegal products in plain sight. Was it to deceive the government?
Though, the merchandise was of no interest to 97. He just wanted to make sure he could navigate safely without the cameras noticing him walking among the aisles. They had mapped out the storage hall for him.
The reason for his disinterest in this lawlessness is simply that his group did the same. If he was to reveal these illegal activities, his group would be forced to testify in court as well, which could lead to an inevitable downfall. They were already under the scrutiny of the government, who surveilled their movements closely. One misstep could lead to immediate revocation of their license that upheld their status of being a legitimate corporation.
