The Todoroki Child

Chapter 7

Dabi POV

It's 3 in the morning, and I am awake. I can hear something downstairs. Its probably just Haruto. I convince myself to believe that until Haruto runs into my room and shakes Keigo awake.

 "Dad! Papa! there's someone downstairs!" 

Keigo slowly opens his eyes. "Relax, Haruto, It's probably nothing," he says. but then we hear a crash from downstairs, and we know it's definitely not nothing.

"Stay here," Keigo says, then he takes my hand and we carefully walk downstairs. 

At first, I can't see anything. 

then I see a shadow of a tall man sitting in our living room. Keigo looked at me, a scared expression on his face. 

who is that? I can't see his face because the lights were off. It doesn't look like Natuso, Fuyumi, Shoto, or mom, but the only people who know where we are is my family.

my family...

shit.

I flick on the lights. unfortunately, I am right. there, sitting in my living room, is my father. What is he doing here? how does he know where I live? how does he know that I'm alive? 

but that doesn't matter right now. right now what matters is that I get him out of my house. 

"Endeavor?" Keigo gasps. "What are you doing here?" 

Endeavor looks up. "Hawks? is that a villain with you?"

Keigo looks at me. "That doesn't matter," he says. "Why are you in my house?" Endeavor sighs. "Someone told me my son lived here," he says. "AND SO YOU BROKE IN???" "He would never let me in!" 

"That's right," I step in. "I wouldn't." Endeavor and Keigo both look over at me. Keigo looks surprised that I told him, and Endeavor looked conflicted, like he couldn't decide whether or not to believe me. 

"Touya?" Endeavor finally says. I just nod. "Why did you leave?" That is the stupidest question anyone has ever asked me. "Take a guess," I say. "Listen, Touya, I'm a better person now. And also... I heard that you have a kid now?" I can feel the anger rising. he's addressing me like i'm a little kid. he is trying to convince me he's changed. and now he's trying to involve Haruto in this! 

"You don't get to see him," I say. Endeavor looks me in the eye with a face of regret. But I don't care. he hurt me and my siblings, and I'm not going to let him hurt my son. "Touya, I know I wasn't the best father. but I promise that I'm getting better! I know I won't ever be able to be a good father, but...can you at least give me a chance at being a grandfather?" 

Part of me wants to let him meet Haruto. but the other part is furious at him for even trying to let me introduce them. I listen to the second part.

"You lost that chance the as soon as you started 'training' me."

And with that, I take Keigo's hand and the two of us walk back upstairs to our bedroom.
