Chapter 3

~Bella's POV~

   I used a vial for teleporting and was in front of the cottage instantly. I slammed open the door and scanned the room for Eleanor. Sarah was against the wall scared and she pointed to the stairs. I took the stairs two at a time and saw her at the vanity removing her make up. I glared at her and walked up behind her.
"You didn't tell me you made it to the castle. I thought you were dead-AK!" I grabbed the back of her throat and pulled her up roughly.
"You failed to mention that payment was due." I said quietly in her ear and she whimpered.
"It slipped!" She hissed out and I slammed her into the wall.
"You know where the Cullens are don't you?" I asked just as quietly. She didn't say anything except whimper at the pain I was inflicting.
"Don't you?!" I shouted and she just nodded.
"The Volturi told me. They warned me about them and Fera." I growled and threw her across the room. She quickly got up and growled my way as her eyes glowed gold. I brought up my hands and hovered collecting fire in front of me. I pushed the ball of fire towards her and she easily avoided it. She moved in front of me and grabbed my neck trying to cut off my air supply. I smiled and brought my hand to her chest taking the air from her lungs. She was gasping for air as I smirked darkly. She fell to the floor looking up at me pleadingly. I willed the water in her body to freeze and she widened her eyes in fear. I could hear her heartbeat in my ears as each beat was slower than the last.
"You lied to me, manipulated me, and now you expect me to just play by your rules?! No! No more! You are finished!" Her heart stopped and she fell to the floor. All the anger dissapated and I looked at her body in fear.
"What have I done?" My breathe was shakey and hot tears ran down my face.
"I never agreed with what she did." I looked up and saw Sarah at the top of the stairs. She looked forlorn at the loss of her mother figure.
"I never thought of her as family either. She expected too much of us." I looked back at the body of Eleanor and sniffled.
"Where's Maxine?" I asked standing up.
"The wolves took her. I thought they were going to take Eleanor but she locked Maxine out." I looked horrified at the thought of it. I swallowed hard and went to pick up the body. I took her outside and called for the wolves. I recognized the alpha and he bowed his head. I threw the body his way and he nudged it to his pack.
"Hmm." Sarah looked curiously at the pack.
"Not hungry?" I asked towards the alpha and he just sneezed. I chuckled and looked at Sarah.
"Did you want to stay here?" I asked her and I watched her think about it.
"No. There's too many bad memories here." I nodded and asked the wolves to wait.
"Let's pack what we can then. I know a place where we'll be safe." She gave me a sincere smile and ran back inside.
"How about another trip?" The alpha just nuzzled my outstretched hand in response. I had thoughts about changing him into a human but not against his will. I went back into the cottage to try and contact Aro. I looked around but without any guidence I was at a lost. I grabbed a suitcase and filled it with all the books about magic that Eleanor collected over the years. I saw Sarah packing away vials into a case made for them.
"Did you need help packing?" I asked walking up to her touching her back.
"I think I have everything packed. Should I pack anything big?" I shook my head no. and grabbed her suitcase. She found some rope to tie the luggage onto the backs of the wolves and followed me out.
"Are there anymore vials so that we can talk with them?" She nodded and opened the box of vials. She picked one out and handed it to me. I downed it and waited a minute.
"Hello again." I heard the alpha say and I tilted my head towards him.
"Hello. You wouldn't mind helping us again?" I asked just to be sure.
"It is no trouble. Two of my pack can help with the bags." He whined towards two of the pack members and they walked forward. I said hello to them and they returned it. Sarah and I wrapped the luggage onto the two wolves and we hummed in saitisfaction when it stayed.
"We're going to the same place as last time. Remember?" He nodded his head and kneeled down for me again. Sarah climbed onto a different wolf and she laughed.
"They're so soft." She whispered but I still heard it. I smiled her way and then we were off. It was still a bitter coldness to the air as it whipped around us. I pulled my cloak around me tighter and clenched my teeth.
"Cold?" I heard the wolf mutter. I whimpered and I felt him slow down.
"Camp for the night." It was an order but I didn't go against it. I slid from his back and gathered firewood. Sarah and I arranged it to where it should burn for the night. I created a fireball and threw it to the pit. The flames reached high into the night as we all settled around it. The wolves kept to our sides so that hyperthermia wouldn't kick in. I smiled at the wolves and succumbed to sleep.
