TW: Mentions of Violence, Mentions of Suicide
Y/N: Your Name
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The bell for lunch rang loud and clear. It was a breath of relief for
Y/N. The octopus would be gone and that left time for more planning."Oh, that's lunchtime everybody." Mr.Octopus says while he goes up to the window and prepares to leave. "Excuse me while I hop over to China for a quick bite. You have my cell number, any kidders who are feeling especially trigger happy are free to hit me up."
And with that, the alien left.
"Ok, math." Megu in the top row spoke. "If he's traveling at Mach 20..."
"It will take 10 mins tops for him to get to his favorite takeout place is Siachen" Nagisa spoke. (I don't know if the city name is right)
"Just to be clear, we absolutely ruled out missiles?" Another student asked.
"Are you kidding? Even if we had access to that type of hardware, he can break the sound barrier."
Y/N ignores the conversation and packed their books under their desk. That's when Terasaka and his gang walked up to Nagisa. Y/N knew the trouble makers were doing something sketchy. Even though Y/N didn't know the class all too well, they could tell that Terasaka was not the type to talk to someone like Nagisa, unless he wanted lunch money. So naturally, Y/N followed the boys outside. Luckily, they didn't notice.
"So, we know that the octopus's face changes colors depending on what mood he's in." Terasaka had his back to Y/N. They were hiding in the doorway. "Have you been keeping track as I asked? Give me the specs."
Nagisa nodded before spilling the info. "You got it. I guess for starters, green stripes mean he feels cocky, so that's something. When we give a wrong answer, his face goes dark purple. When we answer correctly, we get a red. What's interesting is that every lunch, without fail-"
"Blah, blah, blah," Terasaka cut off Nagisa. Terasaka walked up to the blue-haired boy and pointed his knife to Nagisa. "We got more than enough. When his guard is down, that's when we make our move. Well, at least you do."
Y/N felt a guilty feeling start to bubble up. Is this really the strategy that they were going for? This couldn't work. Even if they did get a hit on Mr. Octopus, they would put everyone in danger.
Nagisa gulped, "Well, about that... I-"
Terasaka moved his face close to Nagisa's in a blur of rage. "Don't start that! We've been over this. You're worried about your transcript? Wake up, dude! We are 3-E. Everyone expects us to be thugs and murderers anyway!" A dark, heavy aura snaked around Y/N like a belt too tight. "You know what the 'e' stands for, right? End of the line. Think they shuttle us up this mountain every day for the view? Sorry to burst your bubble, but society doesn't want us." Terasaka pulled Nagisa closer to him, almost like a headlock. "When did nobodies like us get a shot at the kind of cash at stake here. This is our one-way ticket out of the boonies! No guts, no glory."
Y/N's eyes shot to Terasaka's pocket. His hand shuffled in his pant like he was looking for something.
"Let this be your moment to shine," Terasaka said as he pulled a light orange bag out of his pocket. He pulled the bag up to Nagisa's face so he could see it. "Man up, go make a name for yourself, huh?"
Nagisa caught the bag as Terasaka dropped it and left for his buddies. "Best of luck! Try not to blow it..."
After that, Terasaka left and Nagisa stared at the bag sadly. Y/N's theory was right, this was a suicide bomber type of assassination. The shading on the bag was in the shape of a grenade. Y/N needed to stop Nagisa before it was too late.
A moment later, a whooshing noise fell from the sky. Mr. Octopus landed, but he brought back a missile. Y/N ran out, pretending that they were startled by the noise.
"Hello there, I'm back." The alien stood next to the poor Nagisa.
"Ok, hi sir," Nagisa stood startled. He was trying to hide the bag from Mr. Octopus. He didn't even bother hiding it from Y/N.
"Why do you have a missile?" Y/N asked.
"A souvenir from a strike force that tried to bring me down over the sea of Japan." Mr. Octopus said it so casually like this was normal (which it probably was).
Nagisa looked at Mr. Octopus with a nervous face. "Must be lonely living in the crosshairs."
"Quite the opposite, actually. Reminds me of how amazing I am!" Mr. Octopus's boasting struck a match in Y/N and Nagisa's brain.
That was his weakness, his cockiness. A wise man once said, if your opponent thinks they have the advantage, they don't.
"Now then, inside for 5th period please." Mr. Octopus walked inside after that, Y/N followed.
Y/N really needed to think of a plan to help Nagisa. Terasaka was forcing him to basically kill himself. Even if the BBs didn't hurt humans, the blast alone can cause serious shell shock or burns.
"Something wrong, Y/N?" Mr. Octopus asked. He noticed the worried gleam in their eyes.
Y/N shook their head and put on a fake smile, though, to Mr. Octopus, it looked real.
