The Rat man

Professor Mcgonagall came into the room. The whole Gryffindor common room was gathered around me which was uncomfortable.

Professor Mcgonagall held a candlelight in one hand and a cup of water in the other.

"Here you go, dear", Mcgonagall said as she gave me the cup of water. I took it from her hands and took a sip. "Where did you see him".

"In here. He was standing right there", I said, pointing at where my father was standing.

Everyone who was standing close to the spot, backed away as if that place on the carpet was infected with some sort of deadly disease.

Professor Mcgonagall looked at the students. She looks back at me. "I'll talk to the portraits", she said. She walked out of the room.

"So you really saw him?" Neville asked.

"Yes", I said.

Colin Creevy pointed his camera at me. I looked at him with horror.

"Colin! Put that away", I said. Colin lowered his camera. I looked at everyone. Everyone looked uneasy. Everyone except my friends.

"You guys don't think I'm like Sirius Black, do you?" I asked.

"Of course not", Seamus said, but I could tell by the look on his face that he was lying. And everyone who shook their heads were lying too.

"I'm nothing like him. You guys know that. I never met him until tonight", I said.

"We understand that you've never met him. And we're not saying it's your fault. It's just...well..." Dean trailed off.

"You think I have madness, psychotic, lunatic, murderous raving blood", I cut off Dean.

"No", Pavarti Patel said. I gave her a look.

"Yes", Lavender Brown said softly, hoping I wouldn't hear, but I did.

"Of course you do", I said.

"Did he tell you where he was going?" Harry asked me.

I shook my head. "Does this mean we'll have to sleep in the Great hall again?" Ginny asked.

"I hope not", Neville said.

"Yeah, that was too uncomfortable. I hope we don't do that again", I said.

Professor Mcgonagall came into the room with Dumbledore, Professor Snape and Remus.

"The common room is being searched. The portraits say they saw him come in your room, but they didn't see him come out", Mcgonagall said.

"He jumped out of the window", I said.

Everyone ran towards the window. Professor Mcgonagall walked over to the window.

I got out of bed. "I already checked. You won't see a body",

"Maybe he has an invisibility cloak", Dean said. To this, I noticed Harry, Ron and Hermione exchange looks. "Or he's still alive", Pavarti said as if that were obvious.

"Everyone, back to your dormitories", Dumbledore said.

Everyone walked out of the room. Everyone except the Professors, Hermione, Ginny and Angelina Johnson and I.

"Professor Snape and Professor Lupin will be patrolled outside your dorm", Dumbledore said.

I nodded in understanding. Dumbledore and Professor Mcgonagall walked out of the room.

"All of you to bed. You will head to class in the morning", Snape said. He walked out of the room.

"Good night, girls", Remus said.
