To the Thief that Took My Hair Tie Amongst Other Things Like My Heart,

Oh, if only I could say your name
if trouble had a name, it would be yours.
You were one of the rare ones; smart, charming, witty and funny.
You smelled like the night sky, mysterious and begging for answers,
answers I wasn’t yet ready to hear.
You’d sometimes put your long, curly hair in a ponytail
and I knew I was done for.
All those after-lunch candies you gave me at work
all those times we stood in the rain waiting for a ride home
those times you’d sneak your other earphone in my ear to let me hear a song so we can vibe to it.
All those talk about music and movies, ideas, everything and nothing at the same time.
Especially that time when you suddenly wore your white Chucks
you haven’t worn for so long just to match mine.
Being with you was like being transported into a whole new universe of possibilities.
Even the silence between us felt full.
We never really said it to each other, but we knew.
I wonder where you are right now.
I wonder if you still remember me.
I wonder if you still remember the bakery we used to go to
and how short the destination seemed because our conversations were endless.
They were never just small talk. They were the kind that I loved.
But you suddenly vanished,
gone without a trace.
You ran away from life.
No one knows where you went like a magician using one of his tricks.
What made you disappear like that?
Why did you deprive this city of such a good looking, smart-ass guy with glorious curls?
I wish you knew I kept looking for you back then.
But life had other plans.
I hope you’re doing okay.
I hope your hair is still curly and your wit still sharp.
And I hope you remember me and it would make you smile for one second.
