Then she starts speaking in a serious tone due to which everyone stops talking immediately. She starts off with, 'Students I would like to announce something really important that is....'

When she said it like this, all the girls including myself, glanced at each other already knowing and dreading what was going to come up. As before the prayer started when we all were talking, Lyndsey (a girl whose father has many known connections within our school) told us a very terrific news which is our school building is going under reconstruction process and then the building would be allotted to fellow university students. At the time nobody listened to her and brushed her said things away because none of us wanted it to be true.

It all comes back to us as soon as our class teacher said these words but when we all glance at each other having a knowing look on our face while Lyndsey having a bit of I-told-you-so look but also having disappointment and dejectedness. We all lower our faces and turn back around to hear the bad news.

When we all turn around we see every boy and our class teacher has seen our girls interaction. While the boys have questioning look on their faces, our mam has disappointment too but glad that she won't have to deliver the whole news.

One of the girl raises her hand and when mam nods her head as if saying yes you may ask question. I and Amelia having been on the first bench have to turn whole about to look who raised their hand and what is she going to say and sending a look of comfort to each other in the process. Finally the girl asks, 'Mam, is it true? What we heard? Is it really going to happen?' Her voice almost cracking at the end.

I look up in time to see that this did not only raise more questions from the boy but also increases their puzzlement of the whole situation. I even read lips of one of Alexander's friends whispering in his ear 'What is happening? Do you have any clue?'

In response, Alexander elbows him lightly and says, 'How the hell would I have any idea? Shut up and listen.' After which he looks up to me having a What-the-hell-is going-on look to which I just shrug and tell him 'Have patience' in a way he can read my lips. By receiving this answer he lets out a slight groan of frustration and again pay attention to mam who answers us, 'Yes, it is true, its going to happen. I'm sorry that this might not be the first news you all want to hear on your first day to new class. But still...' She lets the sentence hang on the air which we all can complete. But still our building is going to be demolished and that we are being transferred to another building.

As soon as the words left mam's mouth each girl lets out a sigh or a gasp of disappointment and shock.

Because of our such reactions the boys by the looks of it which I see on their faces which told me that they have had enough.

Finally, Ian asks mam what are we all talking about. Usually none of us would have the guts to directly ask questions to this mam because we have been told by our seniors that she is really very strict but right now it seems as if it doesn't matter.

Our mam starts speaking, knowing the boys are losing patience. 'Boys, we are going to shift to another premises and we will have to share our floor with other school. This building is going under construction and I believe we will not be able to come back here anytime soon.'

All the boys are shocked to say the least because they were prepared for the bad news but not this, while all the girls (including me and Amelia) notice that mam deliberately left out the part where our building is going under construction for the university students. I want to say something infact I can see that many girls have the same issue but we all hold our tongue.

After 2-3 minutes, everyone starts speaking at the same time. I can see and hear from here that everyone is practically shouting 'That's unfair', 'Why do we have to share the same floor with those idiots' etcetera etcetera. When this chaos is going on I notice our principal mam is outside. Seeing this I do a little hand gesture to tell Amelia this which cause a chain thing and then everyone quiets down one by one after knowing our principal mam has been outside for quite a while.
