Dancing in the Dark- Percabeth Dance AU

:Part 6:

So if you didn't know I was going to discontinue Dancing in the Dark but I think I have a solution so here is chapter 6!

"She's been at the top of every class. I'll keep you posted on everything I know! Bye Beth!" 

"Bye," Annabeth said hanging up the FaceTime call. Just then Percy slammed open the door to her room.  She screamed and threw her pillow at him. 

"SURPRISE!" He yelled with his arms wide open. 

"Who let you into the house????!!!! My parents aren't home and the door was locked! Did you. Just break into my house??" 

"Kitchen window," Percy said with a smirk. Annabeth was still shaken, he literally just broke into her house!

He sat next to her on her bed. Percy was always a little envious of her clean room, then again he never felt like cleaning his. It wasn't disgusting. It was more like some clothes on the ground here and there but that was it. Annabeth leaned her head on his shoulder. 

Percy cleared his throat. 

"Did you ever look at the New Rome stuff?" He asked. Annabeth pointed to the trash can in her room. 

The purple pamphlet was in there still unopened. 

"I started my physical therapy the other day, it hurts but if it's gonna make me feel better then so be it. Pass me that." 

She pointed to a blue thick elastic band. She stretched it over her legs and had to move her legs apart. She struggled but having Percy there to keep her laughing made it better. 

"Okay but like this one. If you were on the McDonalds menu you'd be the McGorgeous." 

At this point, all the pain had been evened out with laughter. Percy had been doing cheesy pickup lines for the last half an hour. Her stomach ached from laughing too much and Percy was trying to keep a straight face. Eventually, the timer Annabeth had set went off, her therapy was over. She looked at Percy and gave him a hug from the side. 

"Thanks." 

"Yeah, anytime."

It continued like that for the next few days. Percy would come over and help Annabeth through her physical therapy. It was nice knowing that she had a friend around to help her out. Her parents weren't fond of the whole "boy in my room and you guys are gone" idea, but Annabeth trusted Percy in that way. 

Percy went with her to get her first check up on her knee. The doctor did the whole thing with some promising looking faces. That was until the end of the appointment. The doctor had a blank face with a dissatisfied frown. 

Annabeth looked at Percy with worried eyes. 

"Well Annabeth you've been doing everything right but your X-ray results came back and...and well your knee is more damaged then we thought. You put a lot of extra stress on your leg and when you hit the concrete it was game over for it." 

"G-game over? So I'm not gonna dance again?" Annabeth asked. She looked to Percy with eyes that no longer screamed worry but instead panic. 

"Well..." The doctor scratched their head, "it's a possibility, yes."

After the appointment Annabeth didn't talk for the rest of the day. Not even to Piper, Hazel, her friends, anyone. Not even Percy. She couldn't look anyone in the eyes. Everything was gone in a flash. She ate dinner in silence while her parents talked. That night before bed she looked at the trash can in the corner of her room. The purple envelope laid there and somehow was calling her. It was like it was screaming at her to open it. 

Maybe just a peek, she thought. 

She got on her crutches and went over to the trash can. Carefully she pulled out the envelope and opened the seal.  She flipped through the pamphlet inside. The school intrigued her. Everything seemed perfect over there, unlike her life right now. She felt like giving up at this point. It was so early in her recovery journey though that she still wanted to keep going. She wasn't a quitter. Annabeth pulled her phone out from it's charger. She texted Percy. 

A: So when is this New Rome application due by?

P: YES! KNEW YOU'D YOU COME AROUND

A: Doesn't mean I'm giving up though, I will dance again

P: I know you will ;) night beth 

A: Night Seaweed Brain
