🖤Chapter Twenty-Six: The Room🖤
🖤🖤🖤
I slowly began to wake up, feeling my head being pushed around. I looked up, attempting to look around, but the room I was in was clouded in darkness. I suddenly felt a kick to my leg, making me curse in pain. It didn't hurt very much, but it still surprised me.
Something was abruptly taken off my head, my eyes quickly shutting from the light of the room. It was still a dark room, and from what I could tell, the room was small with a single overhead light bulb.
I looked around with a scowl on my face, 'What the hell is this? Do they think this is some kind of movie? Where even am I?' I thought, looking around as my heartbeat began to steadily rise.
I tried to move my hands, but they were strapped down, so were my legs. I thrashed around, grunting as I struggled to free my hands from the chair I was bounded to. A door suddenly opened, making me snap my head in the direction as my attempts to escape halted.
A man walked in. His hair was a bright blue-ish color and was shaggy looking that covered his eyes slightly. "Sorry to snatch you off the street like that, darling. Dreadful etiquette, I know-"
"What the hell do you want from me?!" I shouted, cutting him off as I glared at him, my teeth gritting- partially trying to keep the tears from forming in my eyes.
The man let out a chuckle. Its husky and deep tone sent shivers down my spine, "Do you know who the Ophidians are?" He asked, the lower portion of his face covered. He was dressed in a white button-up with a black vest and matching dress pants as well as shoes. His hands were held behind his back, and he stood tall.
My eyes narrowed, "Never heard of it."
"It's not an 'it'." He swiftly spat, "It's a people. Either way... Do you happened to know the name-"
"Look, man, I really don't give a shit who you expect me to know or want me to know! Get me the hell out of here, you-!"
He stared down at me, his blue eyes peering at me through his bangs. His stared frightened me, causing the words I wanted to say to be trapped in my throat.
"Do you know who Izaya Orihara is?" He asked.
My brows furrowed. I was reluctant to answer. I didn't want to answer at all, but this man had this mood about him... I didn't want to find out what would happen if I didn't answer. "Why do you want to know?"
"We want him to join us."
My eyes narrowed. They want Izaya to join them? "What's that got to do with me?"
He chuckled, his head hanging down as he began to pace around in front of me, walking back and forth. "You look strikingly similar to the Orihara. And we-... I wanted to know if you happened to be close to the man." He answered.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, sir, but I have no idea who he is." I swiftly lied, surprising myself at how fast I shot out that false statement. I was in no place to complain, however.
The man suddenly lunged forward, holding a scalpel to my cheek, dragging the side of the blade against the soft skin. My breath hitched in my throat, and cold sweat dripped down my chin as my eyes were locked on the hand that held the silver blade to my face.
"You're a bad liar." His voice was low, making my blood run cold. "The Orihara would be a wonderous addition to our team. And with his precious sister here... he'd have no choice but to obey our orders." The man stepped back and dropped the knife from my cheek, making me release a trembling breath I didn't even know I held in.
"L-Look, man. I really have no idea who he is. If you could just let me go-"
"Boss. Permission to silence her?" Another voice spoke from behind me making my eyes go wide. When did they get here? Were they always here? I tried to spin my head around to see who it was, my whole body trembling in my binds. They were in the darkness, the only thing I could see was their dark pants and shoes. They too had their hands behind their back.
"Not now. Patience, Boy." He said, his tone seemingly irritated. "Boy, come here."
I followed as the boy walked over, seeing him emerge from the darkness, revealing a tall male beginning to walk past me, glancing down at me. As soon as we made eye contact, his gaze tore away as he walked over. "Yes, Boss?"
"Show her the mark."
"But, Boss-"
"I SAID SHOW HER THE MARK!" His voice boomed dangerously loud, making me jump out of my skin at his sudden change of tone.
I saw the boy flinched ever so slightly at the tone, his eyes closing as his head hung in a nod. "Yes, Boss." He turned around, walking in front of me as he lifted the sleeve of his black and red striped long sleeve that was under a black graphic T.
"Do you recognize this mark?" The man asked from behind the boy, peering over his shoulder at the tattooed snake mark on his forearm. The bell over the door in my mental shop remained silent, the tattoo not ringing any bells.
I stared at it, my brows furrowing in confusion. "No, I don't. I don't even know who you people are. I've never even heard about the 'Ophidians' until now."
"There's a good reason for that, darling. If we were a popular gang such as 'The Yellow Scarves', then people wouldn't be afraid. They'd be cautious. A man who is afraid is weaker than a man who is cautious."
The boy pulled down his sleeve and walked out of the side door, closing it behind him.
"Now, then. Back to the main point of why you're here..." He trailed, stepped closer to me as he leaned forward, holding out the scalpel in front of him with his gloved hands. The sharp blade trailed down the side of my cheek, feeling a burning sensation against my skin. I swallowed hard, keeping in my sounds of discomfort. "You get Izaya to join us, and we'll leave you alone. Fail to do so and-... Actually... you'll end up finding out... Unless you follow our orders of course. You have two months."
The door opened again and in rolled a medical-looking cart that you'd find at a dentist's office being pushed by the boy from before. But instead of teeth-cleaning utensils, there was a single syringe on it. It was overkill just to carry one syringe on a large medical cart, but that was the very least of my worries. He rolled it over, stopping it next to the two of us.
The man picked up the syringe, flicking the side of the syringe as he stepped closer to me. I thrashed around, trying to get my arms or legs free from the chair, feeling my wrist and ankles burning as the binds painfully rubbed against my skin. My heart raced violently, and I could feel it beating against my ribcage. My head was jerked to the side, giving full exposure to the side of my neck.
I felt the pointy nib of the syringe poke into the side of my neck, feeling whatever was in the syringe being pushed out.
My eyes grew heavy, and before I could comprehend anything else, something was placed over my head, blocking my vision.
Not this again...
