🖤Chapter Twenty-Four: Pepper Spray🖤

I laughed, walking beside Izaya, my cheeks hurting from smiling for so long. I was humming a small song, doing a small dance as we walked along. Izaya held his hands in his pockets, the hood of his coat over his head as he walked a little ways behind me.
I spun around, holding my hands behind my back as I walked backward, now facing my older brother. "So, Izaaa-ya." I said with a smile, staring up at him, "Will you walk me home?"
He chuckled, looking down to the ground as he shrugged his shoulder, "What kind of brother would I be if I didn't?"
My smile widened into a small grin, spinning back around in place as I waited for Izaya to walk beside me to continue walking. "So how have you been, Izaya? It's been so long since I've last seen you. You still look the same," I laughed.
He smiled and closed his eyes. "I've been good. Getting to see you made me feel even better."
I rolled my eyes playfully, "You're so cheesy."
"You used to like cheesy."
I smiled. "I still do."
Izaya's gaze suddenly lifted from mine as he stared forward, stopping in his tracks as he noticed something.
"Izaya?" I questioned, stopping next to him as I eventually tore my gaze away from his hardened stare and looked towards what he was staring at. My heart leaped out of my chest out of surprise, "M-Mom... Dad."
"Hello, Inra." My father greeted, a slight smile on his face. "It's good to see you... And you too. Izaya."
"Hey... You guys too..." I said quietly. I actually didn't want to see them. I know I was going to tell them what I told Mikado, but I didn't want to do it so soon. "What are you doing here...?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Well." My dad started. My mother has been quiet this entire time, staring at me with a blank stare and crossed arms. "We came to take you back home. You know you left home without permission. You had us worried."
I frowned, "I know. And I'm sorry. I know I should've told you, but-"
"There is no but, Inra!" My mother suddenly inquired loudly, making me flinch back, "You ran away. And you left, leaving only a note. You said you were going to call each night, so we thought to give you a chance. When no calls came, we thought that something had happened. Or that you were doing things you didn't want us to know of."
I remained silent, biting the inside of my cheek.
"Kyouko, settle down." My dad said in an attempt to calm her down from the agitated tone she had. "We can't be angry with her. She clearly had something going on, so she wanted to get away. Hopefully, that something is taken care of?" He said, looking over at me for my response.
"Uhm... well... not exactly..." I said nervously.
"No? What happened? Is there something we can do to help?" He asked.
I shook my head, "N-No. There isn't. Don't worry, dad. I'm fine."
He smiled. "That's good to hear. So you're ready to come back home then?"
I looked up at Izaya for a moment before looking back towards them. "Uhm... Actually... I was meaning to talk to you both about this."
"Oh?"
I nodded. "You see... Mikado and I weren't able to get an apartment together, so we-"
"So you lied?!" My mom exclaimed, causing my father to bark at her angrily, "That's so typical of you, Inra-!"
