🖤 Chapter Thirty-Three: Who Have Nothing To Lose 🖤
🖤🖤🖤
'Dear, Mikado.
I'm so, so sorry. I don't even know where to start. You can imagine how strange my life has been these past couple of months. But, before I tell you; How are you doing? I haven't seen you in what's felt like months. Maybe it has been months. You lose track when you're isolated, haha. I hope Masaomi and Anri are doing well. I'm sending Masaomi a letter too. I would send Anri one, but I don't know her address. So could you tell her I miss her? And I hope she's safe and well. Once this entire thing is over, we should hang out again. Maybe go to a different place, though. Maybe your place?
Anyway, I can't say a lot, but I can tell you that I'm safe. I haven't been responding to your calls and messages because I lost my phone for a while. And with police rules, they took it from me so I couldn't be tracked. I was taken from home for a while but I managed to get away, and my brother has me under his watch. But it's not too bad. He makes sure I'm comfortable and happy. We've been spending most of our time watching movies and doing other things around the apartment. He makes things better. He's not all bad as the media says.
I'm not sure how long this isolation will last, but as soon as it's over, I'll contact you, and we can hang out again :)
Anyway, I miss you all and hope we can hang out again soon. I'll write to you every week!
Love you,
Inra.'
I let out a sigh, my fist pressed against my cheek as I stared out of my classroom window. It's been nearly three months since I've last seen Inra... Every day I wondered where she was. Masaomi and I both received letters from Inra... Three weeks ago.
Their parents... the news... I couldn't even imagine going through that. I've met her parents before she moved away when we were both little. They used to be nice. They'd have me over for dinner every Saturday when neither of us was busy.
But now...
"Ryuugamine!"
I jumped hearing my name, my head peering over to where the voice hollered my name. I relaxed a bit, a sad frown settling on my face when I saw Masaomi there. "Oh... Hey, Masaomi." I greeted, turning my head to look back out of the window, my chin being placed in my palm.
Masaomi leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed as he stared at me. "School is out, you know."
I looked over, seeing that everyone did in fact leave. "Oh..."
Masaomi frowned and walked over, sitting at the desk next to mine. "Where do you think she is?..."
I shrugged my shoulders silently, mindlessly peering out of the window. "I don't know... She said she'd write every week, but that was her only letter..." I frowned, turning my head to look at Masaomi who stared at me with a sad frown. "It's been three weeks since her letter."
"Maybe she doesn't like writing letters."
I shook my head. "That's not it, Masaomi. It's not like Inra to say something like that and not fulfill it- Especially under circumstances like this."
He sighed and stood up, staring down at me. "Come on... Let's get some fresh air. Being trapped in this prison isn't good for the brain."
I nodded meekly, "Yeah... Okay..."

Footsteps echoed in the silent hallway, a boy with dark hair and a bandana wrapped around his forehead walked into a room. A feminine static voice soon spoke from his waist;
"Tomita. Boss wants you down in the lower lot in ten minutes."
Tomita took the walkie-talkie off of the waistband of his pants, holding up the small communication devise up to his lips, speaking into it, "Copy that. I'll head down there now." He replied, putting the walkie-talkie back onto his pants, looking forward with a deep scowl as he stopped in his tracks. "Just great..."
Tomita took a deep breath and exhaled sharply, his shoulders rising and lowering with his breaths. "Here we go..."
His black boots echoed in the empty halls as he made his way into the stairwell, the eerie silence of the area was enough to drive anyone crazy with the sound of their own footsteps echoing five times over.
Tomita opened the lower door not soon after, stepping out onto the dust and dirt-covered abandoned lower level of a parking garage.
Tomita felt himself cringe when he heard the sound of a loud slap, followed by the voice of a girl crying out in pain. His eyes looked up, seeing his Boss standing over the girl. She clutched her left cheek, cowering in a small ball with the large black coat hanging over her.
Tomita watched as his Boss' black wingtip dress shoes collided with her face, fighting back the urge to cringe. He'd be killed if he so much as spoke up against him. She fell back, letting out a sob as several drops of blood fell from her nose, making dripping noises as they spilled onto the floor.
His eyes trailed back up to his Boss, seeing him pull out a white handkerchief from his vest pocket, wiping off the blood from his knuckles with closed eyes. "You're early."
His tone was cold, making Tomita tense up fearfully. "My apologies, sir. I was nearby when Okubo called and said you wanted me down. I figured it wouldn't hurt to be a little early." His hands shook at his sides as he tried to explain his early arrival, clenching them to calm their shivers.
His Boss let out a hum, his deep, gravelly voice made Tomita prepare to be yelled at. It was common for that to happen. The Boss opened his eyes, the unlit parking area being illuminated only by the light the shined in from the far corner. The Boss's eyes gleamed dangerously as they peered into Tomita, his hands dropping to his sides. "You know how I am about being on time. Not early. Not late..."
"I-I apologize, Boss."
Boss let out another deep hum, his eyes closing again as he walked forward. "Hm... Because you're new, I'll let this... insolence slide." He said, stopping next to him. "But do know that next time, you won't be here to make that same mistake." Tomita tensed when he felt his hand press harshly against his chest, the Boss pressing his bloodied handkerchief onto his torso. He turned around, watching as the Boss walked away towards the exit, "Watch her. I'm having Ando and Kibe come down to... welcome her home."
Tomita stared down at the handkerchief in his hand, staring wide-eyed at the blood-covered rag. Izaya Orihara was supposed to be the most dangerous man in Ikebukuro. Izaya had people. He had his sister. He had... 'friends.'
But... Boss...
Tomita clenched his fist, the handkerchief wrinkling in his palm.
The most dangerous people are the ones who have nothing to lose...
