CHAPTER SEVENTEEN—
T H A L I A's povSURPRISINGLY, today was a much cooler day. Windy, in fact. And for that Benny, well more like the boys declared we pass on the sandlot today.
And with that, the boys, along with Devora and Claudia who both insisted decided we should all go to a drive in theater.
So now I walked down the dark sidewalk, the familiar white bag in my hand I swung around in attempt to distract myself from boredom. The wind had seemed to calm down, leaving a cool night.
Once reaching the designated location I spotted the group that stood around on the sidewalk. Their heads immediately whipped over, showing clear disappointment and concern.
"Uh- and who are you walking here by yourself?" Kenny questioned, his arms crossing.
"Yeah yeah, it's dark out here!" Yeah-Yeah added along.
"And unsafe!" Squints exclaimed, his hands on his hips as he stepped forward.
I smiled and patted the boys head. "Awe, that's sweet of you guys but, I'm fine. I can handle myself you know?"
They looked to each other, their lips pressed together as if to hold in laughs. Squints stifled a laugh and squeezed my arms. "Yeah.. if you say so?"
My mouth fell while they giggled. I rolled my eyes and walked past them, coming to a stop once seeing two faces I wasn't exactly expecting, Shaun and Ava.
I cleared my throat and walked forward. "Hi guys"
They both smiled and sent me waves. With that Devora clapped her hands and called out, "Alright kiddies, let's go!"
She strode forward, leading us past the chain link entrance and out onto a grassy field where tons of different cars lined up. Families sat in the back of their open cars, and kids who didn't have a vehicle simply sat on the grass right in front of the big projector screen.
We all walked over and sat down onto a free patch of grass. My eyes fell on Shaun who set out a red and white checkered blanket, glancing at me and waving me over.
My lips pursed and too refrain from completely rolling my eyes I chewed onto the inside of my cheek and nodded, reluctantly walking over and sitting down.
After settling down I glanced over towards the group, setting my eyes on Ava who swooped down and sat next to Benny.
With a soft sigh under my breathe I turned away, and luckily I didn't need much to distract myself because the screen flickered on.

The big movie screen fluttered on, lighting up the field area. The group of kids heads immediately turned and their attention completely set on the bright projector.
Thalia's head tilted and she turned over. "Wait- what movie are we even watching?"
Devora, who sat amongst the group shrugged while tearing open a packet of M&M's. "Don't know, Shaun picked it"
