The atmosphere hangs low and heavy as a green-suited [OPERATIVE] expertly hauls an unconscious figure over his broad shoulder. His expression, which was once so full of apologetic emotion and sadness, was now back to its usual state: a blank slate. His thoughts were so askew, wondering if he had done the right thing, or said the right words. Such a man bore a huge burden on his shoulder. The other Operatives could not be held quite as high of a regard as his; his number one task was to stick to his assigned role, Emotionless_Day.
He could only muster his own sigh. Why had he been the only [OPERATIVE] to have such a complicated personality to hold? His thoughts trailed to fellow [OPERATIVES], Radiant and Unstable. When was the last time he had seen them falter? To his knowledge, both of them were simply being themselves.
So why couldn't he?
"Emotionless!" A bewildered Benevolent cried out, flinging through the doors of the hospital. He met his side, placing a pink-gloved hand to the unconscious girl slung across his shoulder. "What happened to her?"
Green eyes met pink in a flash, emotion flooding into both of them. At that, Benevolent understood immediately and simply gently took the girl from his shoulders and into his own arms, in a much more comfortable bridal-style, rushing into the hospital.
The rain began to patter, leaving the emotionless man in the damp weather. "I hope," he began to himself, taking the plaid barrett from his head and pressed it to his chest, "They read that letter."

Chapter 14: Gloves Soft Like Velvet
The fluorescent buzz flooded into my ears. The hospital, again. I groaned, turning to my side. Pain was all I felt on one whole side of my body. Memories of the fall shot through my head one by one, and I assumed the side I had fallen on wasn't feeling all too well. A small cough caught my attention, and Benevolent, who had been leaning against the doorframe, gave me a small smile.
"I'm relieved you're awake now," he started toward me, "I just finished running the tests, you no longer have to sit through them." I let out a sigh, which pinched my side.
A memory of Emotionless's hand became vivid in my memory. Reached out, calling out my name to hopefully slow the fall but to no avail. I cascade my gaze to the ground. After he had poured such emotion into the conversation, too...
The pink glove pressed itself to my forehead, and around my neck as well. Benevolent's eyes held small tears in them. "You worry me, you know," His hand then slid down to my cheek. I didn't dare flinch, his doctor's touch was so soothing, "Patients like you are the ones I get so attached to."
I inhale sharply, but still silently. In a casual circumstance, our closeness would be quickly dismissed. However, emotions from my last encounters with Emotionless still lingered, and heavy, at that.
Benevolent's eyes bore caringly into my own, and I felt sudden shame. "Is that so?" My voice cracked a bit, but still remained somewhat composed. His hand shifted.
"If you want to be one of us, you will have to get used to these casualties," he sighed, his eyes now adverting. "I would like to confess something to you, (Y/N)."
I leaned closer, urging him to continue. He drew back just a little. "I don't want you to be an Operative."
A lump in my throat suddenly appeared. If I can't get his signature, how will I become an Operative? Just one missing, the whole thing isn't possible...
"Dear, don't cry, please..." His sweet gesture of wiping a tear that I didn't even know I had, was enough to make me flush, "I just hate seeing you in this state. It seems to happen much more than it should. If you were an Operative, think of how many more casualties you will face?"
