Chapter 12: Life-Changing News

"Welcome, [CIVILIAN] (Y/N)."

I turn around to see the one and only Supreme Leader. He was as glorious as they all said. His demeanor is strong, and his stance is as stiff as a boulder and his eyes as hard as diamonds.

I shakily bowed my head to him. "G-Greetings-"

"Join me in my office. We must discuss something important and I hope to have this completed as soon as possible." He said, I nodded, following him down the corridors and into his grand office.

"(Y/N)," he affirms to me. "You are being considered for a new job." He leans forward, staring me dead in the eye.

"Wh-What kind of job?" I ask, concerned.

I did not expect his next words:

"I would like for you to be part of my team of Operatives." He looks at me in complete

seriousness, trying to find a new expression in my eyes.

WHAT?! But, I didn't even do anything of significance besides getting infected and suddenly getting cured!

"W-Why?!" I hitch on my breath, leaning forward as well.

"Because of your experience with the [NIGHTS DISEASE]. Being cured isn't exactly a common thing. Since you have proven your strength, I would be honored to have your presence in my team of [OPERATIVES]." As he explained this to me, as well as a couple other reasons, I felt my heart drop to my stomach.

Emotionless was right. This news will change my life forever.

"Now, in order to be approved as an official [OPERATIVE], you must gain approval from the other [OPERATIVES]. This can be done by getting signature from each Operative on this small, handheld device. An operative can either sign it directly onto here, or from one of their own. You may get them to do this in any way you feel most comfortable," he paused for a second, the eye visible peering to the side, "As well as...outside motivation."

I nodded, taking the small, green tablet from his hands and slid it into my pocket.

"I suggest you keep this on you, for you never know when you may gain the opportunity to get an approval." Great recommended.

My eyebrows wavered, as I responded:

"Understood, Sir."

"Great. You may return to your residence. Using the back way is not as dangerous as the common path."

I thanked him once again and headed out.

What had just happened?

~***~

Hey everyone! I know it's been a very, very long time. I know I'm that one author who updates once, waits a long time and then updates again. I know, haha! But truth be told, and I know this is the same excuse for many, many others writers here as well as other means of writing, but I have been lacking inspiration. But quite honestly most of it is that the Day's Union universe has expanded further in ways that are tricky for me to understand. It's so wide and conflicted, more than it used to be.

And to that I say, I will not care.

Yes, I still follow the story line and I am still quite invested in it, but my writing can't go that far for what I have planned. Yes, the updates will still be inconsistent and unpredictable, but I will try my hardest to finish this story.

I really am proud of what this book has become, and I am proud and excited to show you what I have stirred up in this crazy mind of mine.

I promise you all, one day, I will finish!

Thank you for sticking with me through all this time. Thank you all for being your supporting and fun selves. Thank you guys for everything!

~Meg
