As you were walking, you couldn't help but think about Shorter and about the way you acted. You were sure that after this incident, things wouldn't be the same as before. It was heartbreaking. You couldn't help but feel guilty. Tears started to fall on your pink stained cheeks. You felt so  alone and empty. But that feeling suddenly stopped when you felt someone wrap their arms around you.

 "Stay with me... I won't ask "forever". Just for now, Shorter..." You said meekly. But after that you couldn't bring yourself to stop hugging him and crying onto his chest. He didn't say anything, he only held you close. He didn't mind you showing your real emotions to him. Though it was silent, it was very comforting. You loved that feeling and you don't want it to stop.

Shorter's POV:

"I really care about Y/N. This is the first time I ever felt something like this towards someone. I really enjoy their company. It's oddly comforting. Y/N makes me feel like a normal person, and I am very grateful for it. All of my past lovers only took advantage of my status as a gang leader. I knew that it was their intention, but I never pushed them away. I was too desperate for someone to love me, for being me but I end up getting hurt. I only met Y/N for a few days, but it seems that I have fallen for them already. But I don't think I should tell them how I feel now. I need to give them time. I don't want to overwhelm Y/N or maybe even hurt them..." I said to myself as I rub their h/c locks.

"Y/N. I really need to tell you something important." Y/N looked up at me and slowly nodded. They appear to be nervous about what I am going to say.

"I care about you Y/N. And no matter what happens I'll always be by your side. You're one of my best friends..." I said emphasizing on the word best friends. "I really appreciate your company and I really can't bring myself to change the way how I see you. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. " I love you Y/N, but I can't say this now...

  Y/N's grip on my clothes softened. Y/N looked up at me and smiled again and said. "Thank you Shorter. I never expected I'd ever meet a friend like you. I look forward in working with you and the gang in the future." 

Y/N's loving gaze is too beautiful. Whenever I'm with them, time flies slowly. Sure, it sounds cliché, but that's how I feel towards them. I still feel bad saying that they're my best friend though...

Y/N's POV:

After saying all those, I felt my chest sting a little. I don't know why. He's just my friend, right? But I love him. I wanted this to happen anyway... I'll just have to keep my distance and not admit these feelings to him.

Then suddenly we hear footsteps. And, as me and Shorter looked at the alleyway, we saw Sing ordering the rest of the gang to look for both of us. They looked very agitated since their boss was missing and one of the members just got shot. But Shorter, suddenly yelled. "Sing, Lao! What are you guys doing here?" He asked a bit confused.

Both of the boys looked over at Shorter looking relived. But when they looked at me, their expression changed. They looked terrified." I guess they saw. Sorry about that..." I said to myself, feeling a bit guilty. But who's that guy next to Sing? I assume he's that Lao guy, Shorter mentioned.

But Sing's  eyes were suddenly filled with rage. "Get away from Shorter you bastard!" He yelled. I was dumbfounded. "Oh, I'm not gonna hurt him or any-" He only grew more angry after I answered. "S-shut up! If you don't get away from him I-" 

"Sing, that's enough." Shorter said sternly. He looked up to Shorter and said. "But boss-" Lao put his hand on Sing shoulder, making him shut up. "Everyone listen up. This is Y/N, they're gonna be joining our gang from now on." Everyone's eyes made their way on me. They looked a bit uncomfortable because of my presence. But Lao suddenly spoke up. "Boss, isn't it risky if we let them join our gang? Because of what they did to Christopher, I'm sure Arthur's men would hunt us non-stop. Please, think about it!"

Lao did have a point, but you wanted justice. This was not important right now. "I know I did something reckless a while ago, and I apologize for it. I was just blinded by rage, and I promise to control my emotions properly  in order to prevent anymore issues in the future. I really need to help Shorter and his  friends to defeat that old geezer Golzine.... Because of him, my friend  died. And me joining the gang is one step closer for us to achieve justice. It might sound selfish but this is what I want. But it also doesn't mean that I don't have any advantages if I join the gang. First of all, I can guarantee that you guys wouldn't need to worry about beating any "top dog" since I can do it for you with a bit more practice. I am also capable of making organized plans, especially if we are trying to escape or trying to raid other gangs hideout, especially Arthur's. Or us raiding Golzine's mansion. It might not sound much but I promise that things would go smoothly if I join the gang. You guys don't need to accept me right away, so no pressure. " You said nonchalantly and while stuffing your hands to your pockets, in attempt to look cool.

The members kept quiet and thought about it and eventually coming in to the conclusion, that you can be their trump card against Arthur and Cristopher. But suddenly, one guy said. "Hmm, Shorter I think it's a good idea if we let them join. Yes, it might be risky but shouldn't we take risks every now and then?" Another man nodded. "I agree, we wouldn't have to worry about loosing more members if Y/N would come with us, right?" Lao kept quiet and looked over at Sing waiting for him to apologize. "O-ok fine... I'm sorry for yelling at you." He said looking defeated. You smiled. "No worries, I understand how you feel so no need to apologize."

"Hmph." He pouted and looked away hiding his small blush. "Is Sing slowly warming up on me? Who knows? Maybe we should chat for a bit." I said to myself. 

Sing is adorable, but he oddly reminds me of Alexei...  But after a while, I started asking him questions about the gang and how it worked then he explained the situation.

3rd person POV:

As both of you were chatting Shorter was relieved that the members were finally convinced that you should join the gang. Y/N said goodbye to Sing for a bit and walked up to Shorter. "Um Shorter, we have tests next week and I have to study for it. May I go home for a bit? I know that Christopher dude is probably keeping an eye on me but my grades are very important-" Shorter interrupts you and says. "Yes, but I'll come with you. I can't risk my girl- I mean comrade getting  kidnapped by that bastard."  You giggled and said jokingly. "Fine, fine. You can come with me boss~"

"But, I'll have to tell Sing first. I don't want him to get the wrong idea or anything..." Shorter says while scratching his neck. You gave him a thumbs up so he starts walking over to Sing who's peacefully reading some books. "Yo Sing. I need to escort Y/N to their apartment. Would you mind taking over?" Sing nods eyeing both Y/N and Shorter. "They're probably gonna fuck or something. Ew." He said to himself, a little salty. "Thanks Sing. Anyways, I'll go now ok? Take care." Then rubs his hair and starts walking towards Y/N. "Let's go."

Anyways The Tenderness Behind The Flower is gotta be one of my favorite songs. The person that sang it is Darren Chen or 陳官鴻 Chen Guanhong/Kuanhong. He played Hua Ze Lei in Meteor Garden and I was obsessed with that show when I was in elementary school. I also had a big crush on him. And his voice is just a n g e l i c.
