___

"Hey Katherine" A boy steadily came up behind me with the other Soc boys trailing close.

"Hi Richie." I said sourly, Richard Haynes was known to play girls and I definitely wasn't interested. "Aw c'mon girl, loosen up. Wanna come get slushies at the DX?" I bit my lip and stared at the other boys, they all looked at me with smirks.

This couldn't get worse.

"Sorry.. got cut off from my allowance. I don't have any money" I lied through my teeth, Dally could barely afford food sometimes, let alone give me a weekly allowance like these Socs.

"Don't worry darling, I got you." He slung an arm around my shoulders, I stiffened and gave a subtle smile. "Really it's okay, I usually eat lunch in the cafeteria anyways" I wiggled my words out as the boys were guiding me through the door.

Richie looked down at me and smiled, wrapping his arm tighter around me. When we got to the DX I saw those boys again. I tried to wriggle out of Richie's grasp but he didn't budge.

The one greaser with the light brown hair gave me a smile and all I could do was awkwardly smile back, biting the inside of my cheek

We stepped into the DX and the boys I was with started acting up. They would go through each isle and drop things just for the workers to clean it up later. I felt uncomfortable, like the feeling of your back sticking to the car seats on a hot day.

I didn't want to be here.

I looked up at the counter and saw one of the most beautiful boys i've ever seen. He looked like he could have stepped out from a movie. I averted my gaze as we locked eyes, embarrassment washing over me.

Richie got a cup and filled a coke slushie then looked over to me. "What flavour darling" he smoothly said, getting another cup.

"Cherry, please" I almost whispered. He filled it up to the brim, grabbing a lid and a straw, then moving his hand to get me to follow him up to the counter.

He set the two slushies on the counter and gave the handsome boy some money.

"Here" he put the cold wet slushie in between my hands, and I gave him a look of gratitude. "Hey Rich! There's some greasers out there, lets go rough 'em up a little." a blonde boy came up behind him and got the other boys to follow suit.

He laughed and got me to hold the other slushie, he and the other three Socs threateningly approached the greaser boys, I hated this. I didn't come here to watch people get beaten up.

The Socs were yelling at them, calling them white trash, hoodlums all the names in the book. I set down the slushies and put a hand on Richards shoulder, spinning him around.

"Leave them alone Rich, they're not doing anything.. let's just go" he scoffed and then smiled putting his hands on my hips, I held everything in me to not slap him.

"We're just going to rough 'em up a bit, don't worry darli-" I pushed him back a little, this was not my idea of fun, and I wasn't going to sit here and watch them torment some strangers!

"I'm not watching this! I'm going right now, and if you even think you have a chance with me then you better follow."  My hands balled into fists, everyone was watching now. Even the greasers chuckled.

"Okay, let's go then boys" he picked up our slushies and handed mine to me, I could tell he was embarrassed, the tips of his ears were red.

"Yeah that's right, Go back to your country club!" That older boy who wore the Mickey Mouse shirt hollered out, Richie dropped his slushie, letting it splatter onto the ground. Him and the other Socs ran up to them, their hands balled up.

Richie grabbed the boy by his shirt and aimed his fist with his nose, while the other Socs grabbed the other two boys. "Enough!" I yelled, once again trying to pull Richard off with little success.

But he wouldn't let go, so I did the only thing that came to mind.

I dumped my entire cherry slushy down his back.

He yelped and the other Soc boys loosened their grips on the greasers.

"BITCH!" He yelled, trying to get the slushie out of his shirt. He grabbed me by my arms and shook me hard. "WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM" Two bit put his fancy blade up to his neck and he stiffened.

The other Socs had retreated, it was only me, Richie and the three greasers. Richard let go of me and stormed off, wiping his sticky hands on his sticky shirt. I could feel the air in my throat get caught and I started to tremble.

"You okay?" The light brown haired boy rushed over to me, holding my limp wrists. I stared into his eyes, they were truly breathtaking. They were green with specks of brown, like a green field full of flowers.

All I could push out was a subtle "Mhm." They then chuckled.

"Hey Two, go get Soda to get her a water" The boy said, now loosening his grip and letting my hands fall. Two more boys appeared behind Two Bit, the handsome one, and one with black hair and crooked teeth.

"What happened?" The handsome one asked. "She stood up for us that's what happened, could have used your help there Soda" Two Bit joked, Soda put his hand behind his neck, awkwardly scratching it.

I found it weird on how they didn't immediately help their buddies out, I suppose they didn't need to get into another fight. It was just odd.

I took a sip of the water, my hands were still trembling. "We better get back" The brown haired boy said, awkwardly guiding me to school.

"I'm gonna dip, ain't nothing important there anyways" said Two Bit letting out a laugh. "Wanna come too Johnny cakes?" Johnny blushed and nodded.

"See 'ya Pony" Johnny said following Two Bit.

Me and the boy started off towards the school. "Pony huh?" I said, looking into his beautiful eyes.

"Heh yeah, well my actual name is Ponyboy. And that cashier is my brother Sodapop" he smiled. "Those are some original names for sure" I giggled.

"My dad was an original person" he looked into my eyes, I couldn't help but blush. "Well, my name isn't anything special, but i'm Katherine." I subtly introduced myself.

"Got a nickname?"

No one at school calls me by my nickname, only Dally.

"Yeah, it's Kat" my ears started to turn red.

"I think that's interesting enough, how old are you anyways?" I looked down, he probably thought I was younger.

"Fifteen." I said shyly. "Me too!" He exclaimed.

"I haven't seen you in any of my classes?" I asked.

"I take a lot of advanced lessons, lots of Socs" he joked, man this boy was making my heart flutter.

"Wish I could say the same, i'm not very smart." I looked down at my feet, my cheeks turning rosy.

"Well if you want, I can tutor you?" I could feel his gaze burn hot into my face, like a magnet I stared into those breathtakingly beautiful eyes.

"I would like that, Ponyboy."
