"Lucas, you don't have to sleep on the floor."
"Its not a big deal Melanie, really." he says smiling, throwing a pillow and blanket on the ground.
"But I feel guilty. I've ruined your entire night. You got hurt and now you have to sleep on the flo.." I ramble but he cuts me off.
"Melanie it's okay. You absolutely did not ruin my uneventful Saturday night." He assures me.
I still feel bad though.
"We could....you know...share the bed?" I offer and he blushes.
"Melanie..""Lucas." I smile wide.
He walks to his closet and grabs a red sweater and some grey sweatpants.
"Here, you can change if you want. They're not the most fashionable but probably more comfortable then that dress." he says handing me the clothes.
I reach up to grab them and our hands meet. He blushes again.
"Thanks." I say and take the clothes. He shows me where the bathroom is and I stumble slightly as I walk to the door.
The sweatpants are baggy and the sweater is big on me as well. I stare into the mirror and take in my reflection. I'm a hot mess.
When I get back Lucas is laying on his makeshift bed scrolling through his phone. I can already see a bruise forming where Noel punched him.
He notices me standing in the doorway and smiles.
"You look...nice." he says and I laugh.
"Shut up." I joke. I walk over to his bed and crawl under the covers.
He walks over to the light switch and flips it down. The room is almost pitch black except for the moonlight sneaking in through the blinds.
Using the light from his phone, he walks back over to his floor-bed and lays down.
"Goodnight Melaine." he says to me but I wasn't ready to sleep just yet.
"I'm not tired." I whine.
"You haven't even tried to sleep yet." He laughs softly.
"You never said why you showed up at Noels." I question suddenly.
"Uh well...you invited me didn't you?" He replies.
"Yeah but you didn't want to come. What changed your mind?" I ask.
"I just thought you might need...want me there. I don't know...." his voice trails off.
I wanted to say something else but I paused for a few minutes, debating on what to say next. I'd blame it on the alcohol but a part of me really wanted to tell him what I was really thinking.
"Lucas I'm afraid." I admit quietly, half hoping he'd fallen to sleep.
"Of what?" He asks.
"I'm afraid that history will repeat itself. So many people were hurt because of me, it was awful. I'm afraid of people finding out about my past. I'm afraid they'll hate me. And I'm afraid...I'm afraid of you."
"Why are you afraid of me?" He quietly asks.
"I like you too much." I pause. "But you don't feel the same so whatever." I answer trying not to sound pathetic.
"I never said that."
"You didn't have to."
"What if I'm afraid too?"
I lay in silence as I ponder his unexpected words when I hear him move from the floor.
The bed suddenly dips down and I feel Lucas lay close next to me. He pulls up the covers and crawls under them.
"I'm afraid. No ones ever kissed me before and when you did I didn't know what to do." He says inches away from my face. "I don't know what happened in your past or why people treated you that way. People shouldn't hate you, you don't deserve it." He says.
"Maybe I do." I whisper.
Before I can say another word Lucas's lips gently press against mine. The small kiss grows into a passionate one. My hand runs through his hair and I tug on it lightly.
Our mouths seem to move in perfect motion when he suddenly pulls away.
"I'm sorry. I can't." He whispers softly, sitting up and leaning against the head board. I sit up too.
"Lucas, kiss me." I beg and he rubs his hand softly through my hair.
"I want too." he says quietly.
"Then what's wrong?"
"Why do you want to kiss me? I'm hermy remember?" He says and I'm not sure how to respond.
He stays silent. I know what to do.
I move my body so I'm straddling his lap. He tenses slightly but doesn't push me off.
"Lucas." I whisper into his ear. "Kiss me."
Our lips meet once again, this time a little more forceful.
He runs a hand slowly down my back, giving me chills.
I move one hand through his hair and the other slowly down his chest. I stop my hand just above his belly button when I feel something against me.
He slowly pulls away again and looks down. I follow his gaze to his pants. He notices im looking and blushes a deep red.
"Don't be embarrassed." I whisper leaving small kisses down his neck and across his jaw.
"We should try to get some sleep." he says and gently moves me from his lap. He starts to get off of the bed but I gently grab his arm.
"Can you stay up here with me? Please?" I ask quietly.
"Alright." He says softly.
We both slip under the covers and silently look at each other for awhile.
I lean over and give him a soft peck on his bruised cheek.
"Thank you." I whisper.
