"You taste like chocolate cake."
Jungkook blushed trying to cover his face with his hands, but Taehyung grabbed his wrists gently. Slowly Taehyung intertwined his fingers with Jungkook's and they held hands. A large grin appeared on Taehyung's face and Jungkook couldn't help smiling back.
Jungkook goes quiet and looks down at their hands.
"Is something wrong?"
Jungkook looked up revealing an expression Taehyung had never seen before. His face was tinted pink and his ears had gone red. Taehyung let go of Jungkook's hand and lightly grabbed his ear, feeling the heat coming off of it.
"You're a bit hot," Taehyung mused with a smirk.
"Taehyung," Jungkook muttered and Taehyung looked at him again waiting for his next words. Jungkook took a deep breath and calmed himself.
"I realized that-well that I care about you. And I don't really know what you'll say, but if I don't say this I think I'll regret it."
"What is it?"
"Umm....Taehyung uh w-would you wanna d-date?" Jungkook was clenching his eyes shut for what felt like years. He sat there waiting for the blow of rejection to hit, but it was silent, save for the birds chirping around them.
Two seconds passed and Taehyung yelled, "Yes!" and Jungkook could swear the whole park could hear. He was grinning from ear to ear and his face was bright like the sun behind them. Taehyung and Jungkook leaned in closer to each other, looking each other in the eyes. Just as their lips were about to touch, Taehyung stopped.
"Wait." Taehyung went quiet and his face got dark. Jungkook could tell he was thinking, but what could he be thinking about?
"Actually there's something I have to tell you."
Jungkook let go of Taehyung's hands in fear he could tell how clammy they had become.
"Just tell me."
"When you were in a coma...I did something."
"What did you do?" Jungkook's brow furrowed and he started biting his lips.
"I went to a party." The words wouldn't come out of Taehyung's mouth and he forced himself to continue speaking, "I got really drunk and uh. And uh there was a guy. I didn't know what I was doing and I couldn't control my body. We made out. I swear we didn't do anything else and I left right after, but it was wrong. I know it was wrong and I am so sorry Jungkook." Taehyung's voice cracked, he seriously messed up. Taehyung didn't know what he was expecting Jungkook to say. He knew that Jungkook would be hurt, but he had no idea that Jungkook could make such an expression. It was the bitter sting of pure betrayal.
"You-you uh." Jungkook's lips quivered. He had finally opened up to someone and he made the first move. He let himself stop overthinking and this is what happened. He was right. He was never made for relationships.
It was deathly silent for far too long and Jungkook just sat there before looking up, "I need some time to think. Please don't contact me for a while." He took his baskets and left without looking back, leaving Taehyung alone with the memories of their perfect date.
Taehyung stayed still for a while thinking back to the whole day, replaying every sweet moment with Jungkook and trying to pretend the last half of it didn't happen. He had no idea what Jungkook was even thinking about right now, but he knew it wasn't good. One question kept coming back and he could hear it, the small voice from the back of his head.
Did I do the right thing?
But it's always silenced a second later by another, louder voice that yells out.
Of course I did, you idiot. I couldn't keep lying to him and pretending it was all okay.
This whole thing had become such a headache for Taehyung. He's never had to deal with something like this. This pain felt so foreign, so new, and yet all too familiar. He was back to not being able to see Jungkook and this time it really was all his fault.
