Chapter 5: Flashback

You'd think I'm masochistic with the amount of pain I put myself through. Constantly letting myself live those moments over and over again. The more I'm around Robin the more I'm tortured inside. I thought seeing him with Star would help me get over him but it's only helped solidify my fear. I no longer have a purpose. The single reason I am alive has been obliterated. Every day a child is born to loving parents, as he grows his parents tell him he could be a rockstar, president, anything he wants to be. I never received anything like that. My childhood was spent learning to control my powers and suppress my emotions by monks. And they didn't tell me that one day I could be a star athlete or a business mobile. There was no point. After all, everyone already knew my destiny. I could feel myself slipping, slipping back into the locked corners of my mind. Soon I was there once again. I was standing on top of a building, Slade gripping my arms that were burning with Trigon's symbols tight.

"Happy birthday." The words echoed all around me.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" I heard a scream. It wasn't till Robin broke through my bedroom door that I realized it was my own.

"Raven.. You have to tell me what's going on." The look in his eyes was fearful.

"No." It was all I said before I allowed myself to disappear.

*Ravens doorway*

"Robin.. What has happened?" I heard Starfire's voice behind me.

"Who broke my door down?" Another voice joined her.

"Raven? But I thought-" I began but Raven shot me a look.

"Sorry. I thought I heard something but it was nothing. I'll get to work fixing your door." I apologized.

"Don't bother." She held up a hand and the door repaired itself.

"You have gotta teach me how to do that." BeastBoy breathed in amazement.

"I don't trust you without that ability why would I trust you with it?" Raven smirked at him.

"Touché." He gave her a nod.

Something is going on between them and I don't like it. Suddenly I heard the elevator doors open. A worried looking Jinx ran over.

"Rave." She panted. "I saw- *huff* -you'll never believe-*huff*-am I really this out of shape?"

"Jinx. Get to the point." Raven placed her palms on jinx's shoulders.

"Oh that's right. I saw-" the alarm interrupted her.

"Titans Go!" I shouted out of habit. Jinx cast me an annoyed glance.

We raced out the door. Whatever she needed to tell Raven will have to wait. Soon we were overhead looking down at an angry Gizmo yelling at Mammoth who had Dr Light pinned to the ground.

"We need that! Get it from him you idiot!" Gizmo was pretty much throwing a tantrum.

"I'm trying! He's blinding me!"

I stole a glance at Raven thinking she'd said something. She was glaring down at them her body absorbing the surrounding energy.

"Um Rave-" I was too late. She blast a crater into the ground.

"The vial!" All three voices screamed.

A small vial with a glowing purple liquid rolled away. That's when a familiar figure came into view.

"Is that.. Uehara Daizo?" BeastBoy whispered.

I stared in awe as he grabbed the vial with superhuman reflexes and took off into the alley.

*overhead mammoth and dr lights brawl*

"We need that! Get it from him you idiot!" I heard Gizmo yell. It made me focus in on what Doctor Light was doing everything in his power to protect.

"I'm trying! He's blinding me!" Mammoth nearly dislodged the object.

In that motion I caught a glimpse of a glowing purple liquid in a small vial.

"No... They can't have that... no one can ever have that..." I whispered so low no one could hear.

I knew what I had to do. Anger boiled inside me and my rage drained the energy from everything around me.

"Um Rave-" Robin couldn't stop me. I blasted the three with as much that wouldn't kill them.

"The vial!" All three screamed. It rolled to the edge of my freshly created hole.

As I was about to breathe a sigh of relief another figure came into view. One wearing cowboy-like hate and yellow sweater.

"Is that... Uehara Daizo?" BeastBoy's soft voice held a layer of caution.

Daizo grabbed the vial as fast as KidFlash might have.

"After him!" I shouted. He cannot get away with that serum. Otherwise we're all doomed.

We had been chasing Daizo for blocks when he disappeared right in front of our eyes.

"Woah. Is Mumbo around here or something?" Cyborg made Starfire laugh.

I shuttered at his name. I still can't look at a carrot after...

I was distracted by a figure on top of a building.

"No.. It can't be.. This must be another nightmare.. This cannot be real..."
