The next morning
Hannah and I had a long day yesterday, walking around New York for the rest of the day just sight seeing. I had a lot on my mind but for the most part, I think I'm ready.
I found myself laying in bed early the next morning, thinking about everything. I was just meeting my dresser and designer today, I had no need to be worried. But then again, this really could be the start of my great career... or just them realizing I'm not good enough. I quickly shake away my thoughts and get up, peering over Hannah's bed to see she's still asleep. I check my email and quickly see all of my information was sent to me earlier this morning. I read through it to find out that I have to be at the studio at 9am, which is in 2 hours. I quickly hop up and get a shower and get completely ready.
Around an hour later I finish completely up and put my shoes on, slipping out the door since Hannah isn't awake yet. I head out to New York streets and call over a taxi, telling the driver my destination as she drives off.
"You headed to the Huxley studio?" my driver asks.
"Uh?" I sort of question.
"Huxley, Quin Huxley, he's a movie director. The address you gave me is his studio." She responded.
"Ohhh, yea yea. That's where I'm headed."
"So are you a set director? Makeup artist? dresser?.... Actress?"
"I am an actress, I'm going there today to meet my dresser and designer, I'm playing June Hart in Quins new movie." I respond.
"Oh my gosh! Are you serious?? My daughter is a big fan of Tom Holland, and I'm sure she'd love to have a personal photo of one of his co-stars since I can't get one with him?"
"Of course, I'd love to. We can take one once we get there." I respond. She nods her head and chit chats about the movie and her daughter for a little bit until we pull up. She takes a quick picture with me and I hop out.
"Have a lovely day!" she hollers as she drives off. I turn to the building, quickly walking in where I am not greeted by anyone. I walk down a hall to a big open space where I see doors opening and people walking everywhere. Finally someone walks up to me, resting their hand on my shoulder.
"Rylee Taylor, I'm so happy you made it. I'm just in charge of making sure everyone is where they need to be." She said. "So, you are over there, room 4. Your dresser and designer should be in there already. Just head in, that's all I have for you." I take in a deep breath as I nod and walk in the direction she sent me in. I slowly open the door to see two woman sitting in the room talking.
"Taylor, Finally. We've been waiting for you." One of them say.
"Oh I'm sorry... I was told to be here at 9."
"Oh it's fine, it's usually just that new comers usually show up early so we have to be here early in case. So, I'm Jovi, your dresser, and this is Dawn, your designer." She says as I wave at them both. "So, we need to start by getting your measurements and figuring out what we need to change."
"We can't change anything about her until she signs the contract." The other woman says from across the room.
"Right, here ya go Taylor, you have to sign this. You can read over it real quick but this is just our little contract, basically stating that whatever needs changed about you for the movie we are allowed to change." Jovi says.
She hands me the contract and a pen and I decide to read over it just in case. Most of what I see is just, If actress has to change hair color/length, body appearance, cleansing routine, eating habits, or anything else to fit the role, after signing the contract I have to follow along. I nod my head as I quickly sign the paper and she takes it back.
"Dawn, I'm going to need your help." She says as Dawn rolls her eyes and puts her book down. She walks over to me looking a little annoyed.
"So you are playing the role of a 15 year old girl, which obviously your body doesn't really fit that." Dawn says as I look down at my body. "Step on the scale and we'll see what we have to do." I do as Dawn says and she walks behind me, checking my weight as she turns back to Jovi. "We have a lot of work to do." she states.
"We don't have much time Dawn, and we can't over work her." Jovi states. They whisper for a few seconds and then both turn back to me. "We are going to step out of the room to talk for a few seconds, we just need you to undress for us so we can see what we're working with." Jovi says as they walk out before giving me a chance to respond. I take in a deep breath, a little hurt by their words. I undress myself and look in a body mirror in the corner of the room. They were right, I definitely don't have a 15 year old girl's body. But that wasn't my fault, I'm not 15. I stare down at my body for a little bit until the door finally opens back up. I quickly turn around to see no one other than Josephine Langford standing at my door.
"Oh I'm so sorry." she says as she walks in, closing the door behind her. "I just came in here to talk to Jovi, is she here?"
"I- uh- yea she's here. Well not right now, they just stepped out to... talk." I say, completely nervous.
"Well I'm Josephine, and you are?" She asks me.
"uh... Rylee Taylor." I respond as I grab a towel and wrap it around myself.
"You're Rylee Taylor! Oh I've been so eager to meet you." She says, leaving me a little shocked. "You are my number one girl on set ya know." She says, earning a smile from me.
"uh... Yea, I guess so."
"So, you got Jovi and Dawn as your assistants, that'll be tough." She says, leaving me a little confused. "Dawn can be a bit much, Jovi's nice but them two together doesn't always work out." She says as the door quickly opens. We both turn to the door to see Dawn and Jovi walking in.
"Alrigh- Josephine! Oh I'm so glad to see you." Jovi says as she pulls her into a hug.
"Yea, actually I came here to talk to you, and I ended up meeting our new June." She says as she pulls away from the hug.
"That is if she can make it." Dawn adds.
"Go easy on her Dawn, she's new. We don't want to scare her away. So, Jovi? Can we talk outside?" Josephine asks as she nods her head and they both walk out. Dawn turns to me and hands me a bunch of papers stabled together.
"This is all the things you have to do to prepare for the movie." Dawn says as I look through the papers. "You have to go on a diet and maybe workout for the rest of your free time before filming. In order to fit your role you have to lose 20 pounds." She says as I continue to look through all the notes they wrote for me.
"This is quite a lot.... I have to cut down on like... everything except protein?" I question.
"Well yea, how else would you get this done in 2 weeks?" Dawn says as she sits back down and grabs her book.
"2 Weeks?! Dawn I can't lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks that's insane!"
"You can, if you eat only what is on that list and only at the specific times and workout twice a day." She says with no emotion or care in the world.
"No I can't. Research says to stay healthy and fit through weight loss you are only supposed to lose 1-2 pounds a week!"
"Well filming starts in 2 weeks, and in order to fit your role you have to lose 20 pounds. And try working on your legs as much as possible, they're the main issue." She says while looking down at me. "Alright, you're dismissed." Dawn says as she goes back to reading her book.
