"Taxi," I said waving my hand in front of the yellow car about to pass us. Things were different here than it was in New York. It was less chaotic, a bit more relaxed and serene. Then too, they drove on different sides. The driver's seat was on the right, and not the left. It seemed weird, but I'd get used to it.
The man driving stopped and opened the door for Alexa and I. He took our luggages and placed them in the trunk. Then he got back in the car.
"Where to, ladies?" he asked.
"Uhh, Holiday Inn Hotel.. The one closest to here," Alexa said. As we drove to the hotel, I just observed the scenery. People sitting at café tables, shopping plazas, and the sun was out and shining. The summer was nice in Britain. It wasn't too hot or too cold. It was perfect.
A few minutes later, we arrived in front of the hotel. "
"$6.50," he said. Alexa just handed him a ten dollar bill. "Keep the change, " she said stepping out of the car.
We got out bags out and went into the hotel.
"Hello, how may I help you today?" a smiling man behind the counter asked.
"Check-in for Hunter," Alexa said. The man tapped at the keyboard for a few seconds.
"Alexa?" the man asked.
"Yup."
"Okay, here's your room key, and you are in room... 210."
"Kay, thanks!"
"Enjoy your stay ladies," he called from behind us. We got on the elevator and went to our room. It was so nice. Two beds, a TV, bathroom (of course), and a little kitchenette. I plopped down on the bed and tried to relax a little.
"No time for sleeping," Alexa said, yanking me up.
"Alexa," I groaned.
"What? You already know I pre-planned this."
"You know that something called 'tomorrow' exists right?"
"Yeah, and I also know that 'pre-payed' exists too. So let's go!" I don't understand where she got her energy from. Wherever it was though, she needed to get me some.
__________We arrived at a bus station. "Okay, first thing to do, tour the city," Alexa read, scrolling through something on her phone. A minute later, the bus arrived. Alexa smiled hardly and jumped up from the bench. She ran straight to the top of the bus, and I trailed behind her. We took our seats in the front row. Alexa was still standing up, taking pictures of the outside surroundings.
"Your ass.. it's in my face. move," I said jokingly. She sucked her teeth and plopped down, placing a pout on her face. "I wasn't going to be standing long," she sassed.
"Goodmorning ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Britain. My name is Alice, and I'll be your tour guide today," the woman said with her British accent strong and thick.
"Oh my gosh I love her accent," I whispered to Alexa.
"I know right," she replied, keeping her eyes focused on the tour guide.
"Our first stop," she continued, " will be at The Buckingham Palace, famous for it's resideces, Prince William, Princess Kate, and our beloved Prince George." Everyone clapped their hands and the bus began to move.
_______________
After a long day of taking pictures in telephone booths, in front of majestic fountains, and seemingly everywhere else in the world, it was finally dark outside. Just as I thought we were going back to the hotel, Alexa and I were waiting for the taxi when we heard music blaring from inside of the building behind us.
"I wanna check this place out," Alexa said, staring up at the sign that read, "Ace."
"Alexa, haven't we done enough for today?" I whined
"Oh, c'mon this is the last stop, I promise."
"You're buying drinks," I said stomping away.
We walked through the doors, where the music got louder. "Glad You Came," by The Wanted began playing. I turned around to see if Alexa was behind me. Just as I turned around, I bumped into a tall, lean, and muscular figure.
