"Who's here for me, Orian?" he asked.
"The young lady over there," she said, pointing at me and then returning to her hand to her keyboard. I stood up quickly, fixing my sweater.
"Hello love," he began. "You look familiar.."
"We met at the club," I said cutting him off and smiling. He returned the smile and simply said, "Right.."
"Well, you can come on back to my office, if you please," he continued. "Orian, keep her friend company if that's not too much work. Please and thank you ma'am.."
We walked down the hall to his office. It was pretty big. It was white, a glass desk sitting right in the center with a large window behind it.
"Alright, so you're here for hiring?" he asked, beginning to type something on his computer.
"Uh, yes.."
"Could you remind me of your name again, love?"
"Uhm, Mia... Jamison.."
"You're from here?"
"No, I'm from New York but look.. I really need this job.. I was fired a few weeks back and I just need a liable job, and I just need whatever's available," I said, rubbing my now sweaty palms together.
"Well, Ms. Jamison-"
"Mia.. Just call me Mia.."
"Okay, well, Mia, how do you expect to work here if you're not from here?" he asked bluntly.
"Look.. Mr. Styles... I'm sure we can make something work. Trust me, I'll be one of your best. I'd do whatever it takes.." He looked at me, his forest green eyes piercing into my brown ones. He stood up, and I was now trembling. Then he started pacing.
"Mia... I'd love to give you the job.."
"Buuuuuuut...."
"There are no 'buts'. I'll allow you to work from home, if you please. For conferences, we'll hook you up through Skype. Now there will be some days where you'll need to be here in the office..in Britain." He walked closer to me, and stood next to my chair. I was looking down, feeling half petrified and half joyous, since I now had a job.
"Mia.." he said. I looked up at him.
"Yes.. Mr. Styles?" I noticed he now had a bulge in his pants. My eyes widened and I immediately stood up.
"Everything alright, love?"
"Uh, y-y-yeah.. I, uhm, uhh, uh.." I stammered uncontrollably for words, trying to get that image out of my head. Once again he walked closer to me. Now I was looking up at him.
"I think we can discuss this more at dinner..." I gulped.
"Dinner?" I repeated.
"Yes. I'll give you protocol, rules, the whole nine yards."
"Uh, okay sure.."
"What time can I pick you up?"
"About 7..from the Canbride Hotel (made up name) .
"Alright. We're all set," he said, flashing me a smile once more.
"Thank you, so much," I said shaking his hand and turning to walk away.
Once we got back into the main lobby, Alexa and Orian were having a full on conversation, as if they were long lost friends or something.
"Alexa," I called, "let's go."
"Ugh.. I'll try to catch you another time.. See ya!" Alexa said, waving back at Orian as I walked out of the door.
"What happened?" she asked.
"I got the job...."
"And?"
"He says I can work from home.."
"AND?!"
"And he wants to take me to dinner, but Alex.. While we were interviewing, he was... He was hard," I blurted out quickly.
"HE WAS WHAT?!" Alexa yelled, causing people to look at her as if she were crazy.
"Hush!" I said, grabbing her shoulders.
"He was hard?" she asked, putting emphasis on 'hard'
"Yeah..." I said.
"Well, I don't blame him. I mean look at you."
"Alexa!"
"What?" she chuckled. "Anyways, when is he picking you up?"
"7.."
"Great! Just enough time to take you shopping," she said grabbing my hand.
"Alexa, I'm not trying to be fancy. If you didn't remember, I do have a boyfriend."
"So?!"
"It matters!"
"What happens in England, stays in England...especially with a hot guy like that. I mean, when you're here, Alex doesn't exist, hon. Sad, but true."
"Alexa.."
"Just come on. Trust me. I got this."
This dinner was definitely going to be something.
