Days had passed and it was time for another strategy meeting in our common room. Flint was one of the most dedicated students I knew, and he always wanted to be one step ahead of the Vipers.

"I've noticed that some of you have worsened in potions. We can't let that happen. I want full abandonment from all of you." He kept walking back and forth in front of the black board of our common room.

"Potions is our weak spot. That is okay, as long as we keep being flawless in Dark Arts. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I want every single one of you to practice injury spells this week. And don't forget repeating the basics."

He cleared his throat and stopped walking.

"Now to the next point on my agenda. This week's volunteers. Ali, you did a good job last week. Blaise, you need to work on your backhand. I suggest you practice with Alison."

"But now to this week. Anyone?" he looked around the crowd with raised eyebrows.

Theodore raised his hand. "I practiced a lot last week, Marcus. I'll do it."

Flint seemed contented and waited for another Python to raise his hand. I knew that he was still mad at me for the things I did with Malfoy. If I didn't want him to hate me for the rest of this trimester, I'd have to make it up to him; and I felt like this was a good opportunity.

"I'll volunteer, too."

"Great." His face didn't look as happy as it did when Theo spoke up, but I was glad he at least hadn't added any kind of annoying remark.

He instructed us to look out for any clues about the other team's volunteers like he always did and dismissed us shortly after.

Alison came towards me with a big smile on her face.

"I'm proud of you, bestie."

I chuckled and we made our way upstairs to our dorm. Blaise joined us shortly after and we discussed what the assignment this Friday could be. After we came across some exaggerated scenarios Blaise had suggested, we decided it would be beneficial to practice some spells together.

Alison was definitely the best at spells out of the three of us. She knew she was, but she wasn't conceited about it and practicing with her was always a lot of fun. She really was the best at cracking jokes, too.

After practicing for some hours, Blaise decided to go back to his dorm and Ali told me she still had to take care of something. I didn't inquire, as she would have told me if she wanted me to know. I figured that she probably had another individual task to deal with.

My head was still overstrained from all the exercising and I decided to go for a walk. I wanted to walk towards the owlery today, but then a thought tempted me.

There was a part of me that hoped Tom would be at the boathouse again. Our conversation the last time had really calmed me down. So instead of going into the other direction today, I walked towards the lake.

The sun was already setting, and I figured that he probably wouldn't be there. I reached the gleaming lake and a smile spread across my face when I saw him sitting on the landing stage. He was facing me with his back and his dark hair glinted in the sun.

I approached him and the creaking sound of the wooden stage made him turn around.

"Hey, stranger." I smiled at him and sat down on the stage next to him.

"Hey!" his lips curled into a smile and his dimples got noticeable.

"I'm sorry I'm kind of taking over your usual spot..."
