everything goes downhill

Hi guys! I'm trying really hard to publish faster because I know it can get annoying when an author doesn't update for a long time. To be honest, I love Haikyu!! but I haven't been as interested in it lately. I chose to focus on a story for Haikyu!! more because writing fanfiction for it is way easier than writing fanfiction for battle shonen (which is the genre I'm currently watching a lot of) since you have to do a lot more worldbuilding. Also I have finals coming up, so it's been hard to put out chapters!

Don't get me wrong though, I love writing this story for you guys and I'm so thankful that you guys like it! Your nice comments truly make my day.

Also, this chapter title is a great title for how my life is going at the moment

Your newfound determination proved to be a huge asset for you as you sat at your desk, meticulously planning how you should go about telling Kei you liked him.

"I don't get why you're making such a big deal out of this," said Ichika as she laid on your bed, tossing one of your stuffed animals into the air and catching it. "It's three words that you have to say to him. What the hell could you possibly be writing in your notebook about?"

You rolled your eyes at her. She would never understand; she had boys falling at her feet and no boy in their right mind would reject a confession from her unless they were hopelessly in love with another girl or didn't like girls at all. "Easy for you to say," you grumbled.

"I think that f/n just wants to make sure she says exactly what she wants to say. Like how people have trouble getting their words out when they're nervous. I'm sure I would do the same if I were ever in that situation," said your new friend, Hitoka, who shuddered at the mere thought of ever confessing to someone.

Ichika seemed to love taking random introverts or just generally shy, awkward, or anxious people under her wing. That was how you'd met Yachi Hitoka from class 1-5, who you'd heard managed your friends' volleyball team, but had never spoken to before. You liked having her around. She was sweet and creative and she made homework assignments that you didn't understand seem like elementary school work from how carefully and well she explained them. So when Ichika suggested that the both of you have a sleepover that weekend, you were quick to invite Hitoka.

"Hitoka's right. Some of us don't get daily confessions from boys at school," you teased.

"I don't get daily confessions," she retorted. You raised an eyebrow at her. "More like weekly," she added.

"Still like twenty times more than I get," you sighed.

"Twenty times zero is still zero," she quipped, causing you to stick your tongue out at her. Her comment, which seemed innocent enough, shouldn't have made you as mad as it did. You really liked Ichika, but sometimes you got the feeling she only cared about boys. The only reason she'd wanted to be friends with you in the first place was that she thought Tsukishima liked you, and she seldom listened to any of your problems unless they were about boys. You didn't care that she seemed to have a new guy every week, but you did care that she only seemed to value you because you had garnered the attention of one of the cutest guys in the class. Not only that, but her personality wildly changed whenever she was around boys. Even her voice would change - it would rise as high as an octave.

It had only been about a week since you became friends with her, but you already felt like Yachi was more trustworthy.

If you were a meaner person, you would've made a clever retort about how she seemed to have no aspirations in life, but you didn't want to sound like a "pick-me" girl or create unwanted tension.
