There was something wrong with these kids, they didn't look normal. As I walked further into the shadows, the marks became clearer. These young girls were completely burnt all over, they must be ghosts. I'd never met them before, they could be his family, but that's weird to think and Larry had only said that he left his family for Constance, not that they died. A woman walked in, and pulled Larry out. She mumbled something into Larrys ear and his eyes darted towards me.
"Excuse me, what are you doing in my house?" he said.
The audacity.
"First off, not your house, second I live here dumbass." I said, and he realised.
"Oh- oh right. I've seen you here before, aren't you a friend of Tate's?" he said with a sneer, "I heard what happened between you two."
"Oh grow up, Larry." I said, and turned to walk up the stairs again. He grabbed my wrist.
"I know what you're like, I know EVERYTHING. You stay away from my family! Tate included!" he yelled in my face.
"Get your disgusting hands off of me, you self centred asshole!" I said, trying to escape from his grip.
"No, no. I think... I think you did this to Tate. You've made him angry, and that's reflected on Constance, so this... this is all your fault." he said with a smirk, and pulled me away from where his family was.
"Larry, you get your hands off my body right now, or I'm gonna make you regret it." I said, strongly.
"Yeah? What are you gonna do?" he laughed.
"Funny for you to ask."
I grabbed his hand, by twisting my arm round, got his arm behind his back and applied pressure.
"You try that again and I'll break your goddamn arm." I whispered, not wanting Addy to hear me. I turned around and Addy was gone, so were the twins.
"Okay, okay I'm sorry. I'm sorry, get off me." Larry muttered. Just before I let him go I said,
"Seriously, Larry. You don't want to get on the wrong side of me today." and pushed him towards the kids again. I stared in his general direction, with threatening eyes and as I was about to leave I heard a voice from behind me.
"Well, damn."
I turned around, and Tate was standing at the top of the basement stairs, with a slight smirk.
"Tate, I thought we weren't... you know." I said, confused.
"Addy told me what was going on. Well, that guy deserved what he had coming. Didn't know you had that in you. I liked seeing that, seeing someone get their ass kicked." he said, with a menacing smile.
God. The house is getting to him already. I remember when this happened to me, Tate was a happy and intelligent kid when I first met him. He's becoming different, more lenient towards violence, wanting to see it. This is going to go wrong, and very quickly. He's gonna lash out.
"Yeah," I said with a laugh, looking down at my feet, "I should get going, I'll uh, I'll see you soon" whilst walking up the stairs and passed him. I didn't like to hear him speak like that. I miss the sweet, innocent kid I met two months ago. He's still majority himself, but when you see violence in this house, it's almost as if you're drawn to it. When he was speaking to me outside, he seemed like himself, but sad. But then when he saw Larry, the little fire sparked in him, and a little more gasoline will be added to that fire, every time he sees that violence he's being drawn to, until it consumes him. The Tate we all know, will be gone. And for good, and there's only one way out of the flames. Death.
