A loud thud echoed through the empty apartment as a box made contact with the ground. A heavy sigh followed as the single person stood up with better posture, wiping the sweat that had risen on his face. "One more box," Their voice echoed as he turned on his heels and started walking. He regretted accepting the top floor, but at least their final box was small, decorative objects their grandmother had given him.
They got down to the bottom floor after a few minutes in the elevator. They walked through the open hallway and came to a stop when they saw the moving van gone and their final box on the pavement. "What if it got stolen," they scolded the driver internally as they walked over and picked it up, sighing in exhaustion. "I'm so ready to lay on the floor," they mumbled as they made their way towards the elevator.
They clicked the up arrow and waited for it to arrive which didn't take very long. It dinged and they watched the metal door pull aside. They stepped inside and clicked the top floor, their eyes darting to the bright red numbers that were displayed. They heaved another sigh as they rubbed their eyes. "If I can at least get my bed done, I'll be good," they sighed out, the ear-hurting buzzing sounded through the quiet elevator. The doors opened and they walked out, taking a right and walking to their open-door apartment. They walked inside and took off their shoes, placing the box down next to the others. "Okay...I'm sitting down," they said and quickly took a seat on the freezing floor.
They stared at the floor for a bit, blinking slowly, before their thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock. They turned their head to the door to see two boys standing at the entrance. One was dressed in sweatpants and a sweater while the other was dressed in casual clothes; a black high-waisted skirt, a cropped graphic tee, and thigh-high socks. Both had a black pair of outdoor slippers and he was brought back to earth when one of them spoke. "Hi, are you the new person?" The taller one asks. "O-Oh, yes," the boy on the floor spoke with a smile. "Hello! We're your neighbors, do you need help?" The shorter one asks and the owner of the apartment looked around. "I guess," they said, "I was going to assemble my bed and do the rest afterward."
The shorter one nudged the taller who glanced at him. "Minho will help," he said with a gummy smile. "I'll get water and help." The shorter one stood on his tip-toes and placed a gentle kiss on the taller's cheek before scurrying off. "You can come in," The boy said and the taller one gave a hum, stepping inside and taking off his slippers. The boy who was sitting on the floor stood up and walked over, holding his hand out. "I'm Felix," They greeted as they gave a much smaller smile than before. "Minho," The taller said as he shook his hand, "my boyfriend will probably forget to introduce himself, but that's Jisung." Felix hums in acknowledgment and gives a nod. "Alright...my room will be this way," Felix said and led the way to their room.
Felix opened the door and pushed it open, showing the furniture boxes that were needing to be opened. "Were the walls already painted this color?" Minho asks and Felix looks at the pastel wall coloring. "I think so," They answered and carefully walked around the box. Minho walked over and helped open the box.
"Minho!"
The male froze and sighs at his already lost boyfriend's voice. "Down the hall, Jisung!" Minho shouted and Felix smiled at the strong-looking relationship. Jisung found the room quickly and smiled at the two. "I'm Jisung," He said as he placed the water bottles down and helped remove the furniture which got an angry grumble from Minho. "Hey! I've been working out," Jisung commented and stuck his tongue out towards Minho who nodded his head. "I know," He said.
Jisung rolled his eyes and looked at Felix who was finding a certain instruction paper. "Are you in college?" Jisung asks and Felix nodded their head. "Sweet! Have you enrolled yet?" Jisung asked but before Felix could answer, Jisung asked another question, "what're your pronouns?" Minho facepalmed at Jisung's question. Felix smiled at the boy's answer. "I just go by he/him," Felix said and Jisung smiled, agreeing. "Back to my first question."
