He abandoned her. then he saved her.

Chapter 5

Blake's POV

The next morning, I'm laying in my bed thinking about Tess. I want to go to her house to try and fix our friendship. I'm gonna tell her why I ghosted her in the first place. I get up from my bed and get dressed in gray sweatpants and just a white v-neck. I went downstairs to my kitchen and got an apple and went in my truck to head to Tess's house.

Once I got to Tess's house, I walked up to the door and knocked. I stood there waiting for Tess to come to get the door. When the door was opened I saw Tess. And oh my...she is wearing some of the shortest shorts I've seen in my life. She is also wearing a plain white tank top and I can tell that she doesn't have a bra on, it's cold outside so I hurried inside so she didn't get cold. Once I got inside, I couldn't stop staring at her. She looked amazing. You could see all her curves in her outfit she was wearing. Her voice interrupted my thoughts.

"What are you looking at Blake?" she asked annoyed

"I-um-you look-" I stuttered

She looked down at her outfit and her eyes widened so she ran to grab a blanket to cover herself

"Oh crap. I'm sorry about that. I completely forgot what I wore to bed. Now what do you want Blake." she said quickly

I chuckled "You're fine Tess I was just shocked. I came here hoping to fix our friendship."

"Blake I told you last night, I'll only give you a chance if you actually tell me why you ghosted me and, you told me last night that you can't tell me. So unless you somehow changed your mind in a little over 12 hours you need to leave." she told me while opening the door gesturing me to get out

"I'll tell you!" I told her

"You will?" she quietly asked

"Yes, but only as long as you sit and listen without interrupting." I said

"Okay..." she said while walking towards the couch

Tess's POV

Blake and I are sitting on the couch, I'm waiting for him to start telling me why he ghosted me but for some reason, he's just sitting there staring at the floor. I'm getting sick of waiting for him to tell me so I try to snap him out of whatever trance he's in.

"Blake. Blake! BLAKE!" I said snapping him out of his trance

"What? Oh sorry, right. Where were we?" he asked once he realized I was talking to him

"Well, I was trying to get your focus somewhere that wasn't on the floor. Can you tell me now?" I asked impatiently

He gulped nervously "Right sorry. Um well, I guess I should start from the beginning. Sometime in September, I was told by Maddy that you were falling in love with me so I tried to distance myself from you. I mean you were my best friend so it was weird to hear that you were in love with me. After a couple of weeks of distancing myself from you is when you started telling me about your anorexic and bulimic thoughts. I thought that since I had been distancing myself from you that you might've just been saying that stuff for attention. I know that was stupid of me but it's what I thought. Okay that was the first part of it, now that I've told you that I'll give you some time to tell me whatever you think." he said while waiting to see what my reaction would be

"Ok wow, that's a lot to take in. Well first off I would like to say that I was never in love with you. Maddy is the one who is in love with you. Not me, so let's get that straight. You really thought I was telling you that for attention? I mean you should know me by now Blake. I would never do that. I guess you walking in on me making myself throw up is what made you realize that it wasn't just for attention." I said waiting for him to respond

"Wait Maddy is in love with me?" he asked with a confused look on his face

"Yep. Why do you think she was the one that told you all that crap about me being in love with you. She was trying to ruin our friendship because she was jealous of how close we were. She is toxic Blake. She is always blaming me for stuff and her emotions towards me change all the time. For example, one second she's very happy to see me and then the next second she hates me and can't bother looking at me. She dismisses all my feelings and puts me down all the time. She is one of the main reasons I've been hating my body and myself." I told him with a blank look

"Tess I never knew that she treated you that way. If I knew that I would've told her to knock it off." Blake said

"Don't even get me started on her brother I mean he-" I stopped abruptly knowing I just said too much

"Her brother what?" He questioned

"Nothing. It's nothing. I think it's time for you to go Blake. I'll see you next Wednesday for church. I'm glad you told me. Thank you. Bye." I told him while walking him to the door

"Ok bye Tess. I'll see you on Wednesday. Let me know if you ever need to talk or if you need help with Maddy." he told me and then I shut the door

I leaned my back against the door as I was thinking about everything that just happened. I found out why he ghosted me, I almost spilled the secret that would ruin my life, and Blake and I were actually civil with each other. It has been a weird day. I go back into the living room thinking about the secret I almost spilled to Blake. That would've been terrible I just hope he doesn't mention it again.

It was only around 1:00 so I decided to go to the beach for a run since I could use some exercise. I drove to the beach and got out of my white Jeep. I looked around the beach and saw that the beach wasn't that full today. Just a few surfers, a few people tanning, and then as always little kids playing the sand. I set up a spot for my stuff and then decided to go start my run.

I was running up and down along the edge of the water for about 45 minutes then decided to go lay down and tan before it was too late. I got back to my spot and laid down my towel and put sunblock on so I don't get burnt. I laid there tanning for about 20-30 minutes until I heard a voice that made my whole body tense. Maddy's brother Jake.

"Hey babygirl." Jake said smirking as he saw me tense

"Go away, Jake." I said trying not to look into his eyes

"First of all, look at me. Second, I don't suggest you talk to me like that unless you want me to punish you. Even though we both know you'd want it." he winked

I looked him in the eyes "Jake please don't. I promise I'll be good. Please."

"Aw, babygirl I love it when you beg." he said as I shivered

He took my shiver the wrong way. He took it as a shiver of pleasure when it was really a shiver of fear.

Behind me, I heard two other voices call my name

"Hey T! Hey Tess" they called out to me

"NO. Not right now. Please. He will get angry." I thought

I watched hoping that they would just walk by without saying anything else. But, God is always against me. So I don't get my wish.
