Tess's POV
The next day, I woke up and immediately got dressed in black yoga pants and a cute pink sports bra. Usually, I would just wear that but after what Jake did yesterday I’m gonna cover up more, so I grab a black zip-up jacket and put that on too. I also cover all the bruises that Jake left on me with concealer. I fill up a water bottle and grab an apple so I at least have something in my stomach so I don’t pass out. I get to the gym at around 8:00 which means it’s not too busy but it’s also not empty. I head to the elliptical first because it’s my favorite thing in the gym. I put headphones in and turn on Olivia Rodrigo’s album called “SOUR”. It’s my favorite music right now, she just has the perfect voice and all her songs are relatable.
I run on the elliptical for about an hour, I’m about to get off and switch to the bike when I feel a tap on my shoulder. It makes me flinch. Hard. I turn around slowly, hoping it’s not Jake especially because I came here to get my mind off what he did last night. I let out a sigh of relief when I see it’s Blake, with Kale behind him.
“Sorry didn’t mean to startle you. I tried calling you but you didn’t hear me. Must’ve really been in the zone.” he chuckled
I let out a nervous chuckle “I guess so.”
“Are you alright?” he asked walking closer to me making me back away from him “Why are you backing away” he looked at me confusedly
“Um yeah I’m fine, I’m just sweaty so I don’t want anyone too close to me” I said nervously hoping he didn’t think anything more about it
“How was Jake yesterday?” Kale said making me snap my head towards him really fast
“What? Um-what-what do you mean?” I stuttered
He looked at me weirdly and said “How was your night after you guys left? Did you guys get down and dirty?” he smirked
I looked around trying to avoid eye contact with him and said “Heh yeah you know how it is.”
“I bet you are super kinky. Handcuffs and blindfolds and all that.” he told me still smirking
When he mentioned handcuffs I flinched and quickly grab my stuff running out as quick as I can not even bothering to respond to him. I see Blake try to reach out to me but I’m too fast, he couldn’t reach me in time.
Blake's POV
“I bet you are super kinky. Handcuffs and blindfolds and all that” my idiot friend says to Tess
She flinches when she hears him mention handcuffs which made me furrow my eyebrows in confusion. She grabs her stuff so she can get away so fast that she forgets her phone, I try to reach out to her to give it to her but she is too quick. After I watch her get into her car and speed away, I turn around and look at Kale with a pointed look.
“What? I didn’t mean to make her upset.” he says shocked about what just happened and if I’m being honest I’m about as shocked as he is
“I know you didn’t. We gotta go give her phone back to her, come on let’s get in the car, and then we can come back here to work out, alright?” I tell him as I start putting my zip-up jacket back on cause I took it off earlier
“Alright. Let’s go give her phone back.” he told me while we walk to my truck
We get into my truck and head towards her house which isn’t a very far drive from the gym. I pull up to her driveway and see her car parked so I know she’s home. I walk up to the door with Kale following me because he wants to apologize for upsetting her. Blake knocks on the door and waits, after a while of waiting he decides to try to open the door. It opens, which makes him concerned. He looks behind him at Kale to see that he looks concerned too. They both head inside after we look for her on the main level and don’t find her, we head upstairs and that is when I hear a noise coming from her bedroom. As we walk closer, I realize that it’s Tess crying, well more like bawling. I open the door and see her sitting against the wall with her knees up and her arms hugging them. I walk into her room slowly inching closer to her trying not to startle her. Once close but not too close I decide to let her be aware of my presence.
“Tess?” I asked
The second she hears my voice she tenses, she looks up at me and I can see that her makeup has been washed off. I scan her face and realize that her eyes are red from all the crying she’d been doing and then my eyes travel down her face and neck and I see bruises. Covering her face like she’s been punched and slapped and hand marks around her neck like she’s been choked. WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO HER!?
