"I really was an idiot for leaving..." Three said, emotionless. her tired eyes examined the ground.
"You're not an idiot, Three. Four just doesn't understand the full story." Marie's soft tone clearly didnt help much to reassure Three.
"Hey guys!! Three I'm so glad youre ba-" Callie popped up from the drain, but soon read the room.
"Oh- Uh... Wheres Four?" Callie walked up to the group. Marie pointed to the house. Callie sadly waved to Three, and carried her groceries into the house.
"Ill go check on Four..." Marie followed Callie. It was just Eight and Three now.
"I'm sorry, Eight. I know you didnt want this." Three sat in front of the house, fidgeting with her shirt.
"Three, stop apologizing. I know you didnt mean to hurt our feelings, but you really did when you left. Four thought it was their fault, and I tried hard to pretend everything was okay." Eight scolded. Her temper calmed after a second, and she sighed.
"I guess every one is at fault here..." She sat beside the inkling. Three didnt reply. The two sat in silence for awhile. Three played with her shirt, while Eight silently waited for some kind of response from her. Three spotted a shiny looking rock, and stuffed in in her pocket. Finally, Marie opened the door to the house.
"Three, Four wants to see you..." Three stood up without a word, and walked into the house.
"Huh..." Was the only thing Three said as she entered. The house was quite pretty, though small. pictures were hung up almost everywhere on the walls. The frames were decorated with glitter. Obviously Callie did them. The pictures were of Callie, Marie, Pearl, and Marina. Now that Three thought about it, she hadn't seen the couple since she left. She finally reached Fours room. She hesitated before opening the door.
"Uhm...Hey, Four..." Three closed the bedroom door, and sat next to Four on the floor, pressing her back against the bedframe.
"I think we misunderstood each other out there..." Three tilted her head back. Four didnt reply, although their facial expressions clearly showed they wanted to say something. Three pulled the shiny rock she had found earlier, and showed it to Four.
"Look at this rock. Its shiny." She said in an awkward tone. Four looked at the rock, and quickly turned their head back, looking away from Three once again.
"...Where did you go...?" They asked weakly. Three sighed.
"My parents. I didnt want to leave, but my parents needed me to watch my little sister, and..." Three paused. Four turned their head to listen to the hesitant inkling.
"...Feelings, they're confusing, Four. I was having so much of them. Guilt, mostly. I kept being reminded of what happened to me." Three didnt specify, but both inklings knew what she meant. Less than two years ago, Three had been kidnapped and half-sanitized. She had been used like a war weapon to kill her friends. The memories of not having any control of her actions haunted her.
"I'm not fond of my parents, but I needed to clear my mind. But when I went there, they ended up being the same as they were when I was young." Three rubbed the black line between her eyes with her thumb and pointer finger.
"Did you tell Eight about all of this?" Four looked up at her agent friend.
"Of course." She nodded.
"...I'm sorry for assuming, Three...I just felt like it was my fault you left..." Four held their legs to their chest, and laid their head on their knees.
"Hey, hey! I should've said something before leaving. It was never your fault! I never used to put my feelings first, I dont know why I did then..." Three reassured her fellow agent. Four lifted their head up, and attempted a weak smile.
"Hey, how about sometime we all go shopping, like we used to." Three purposed.
"You mean it?" Four sniffed.
"I mean it." Three replied. Four soon changed the subject.
"Well, if youre putting your feelings first, something must be bothering you~" Four's bubbly personality began to show again.
"of course. I told you, guilt--"
"Noo I mean like, somethin else!" Four teased. Three was confused, but happy that four was no longer upset.
"What do you mean?" Three couldnt help but show a confused expression.
"Y'know, like a cruu-" Four began to say in a singing tone, but was cut off.
"NOOO ew, four!" Three gagged. Four giggled.
"I dont have crushes, only duties." Three said matter-a-factly .
"You'll find some lucky squid one day, and ill cook them clams!" Four half-joked.
"Whatever," Three said light-heartedly "Lets go with the others."
