Sorry for the wait my mental health is not the best rn but happy pride :D Had to go visit some previous chapters to remember the details of the memories I chose lol

The image of your tired eyes was still in Catra's mind when she arrived at the location the tracker pad was leading her. Sure enough, Adora was there, already entering.

Of course she was. Because she always has to be. She has to be special. The one with every responsibility, but the one that receives every bit of praise. Huffing in anger at her own thoughts, Catra slid through the narrow opening in the door.

It wasn't hard for her to stay hidden: the castle was decorated with wide columns for her to hide behind and Adora was talking loudly enough to a hologram for any sound to be concealed by her voice. Catra easily broke a chip off a pillar and stuffed it into her bag.

She put her tracker pad away and slowly emerged from behind the column she was hiding behind. Adora seemed off today and as long as they were both trapped in a magical castle, she could have her fun.

"Hey Adora~" Catra made no effort to attack.

"You're not supposed to be here," Adora said sternly. Catra could handle stern; she had been handling stern tones her whole life.

"Ok and?" Catra walked around the open area and admired the architecture, making no effort to conceal her smirk as Adora continued to try to talk to the hologram.

Out of nowhere, a giant mechanical spider lept out of a door. The two of them found a random corridor and ran. Adora threw herself onto Catra, getting up awkwardly. Then, the ceiling collapsed, blocking their exit. Great.

"I said you aren't supposed to be here," Adora repeated and this time Catra believed her, "This place must see you as a foreigner and wants to get you out." She offered her hand to Catra, who was still on the ground. Catra made a point of not taking it. "And as long as I'm protecting you I'm a foreigner."

Catra laughed at this: "No one said you had to stay with me."

"Fine then," Adora frowned, "We can go in separate directions."

The two looked around, quickly seeing the only direction they could go was forward through the hall. Now both of them were frowning. Catra had the chip she needed; she could afford to stick with Adora and mess with her, but would she be able to? It's not like she could just leave, though.

They continued walking until they found themselves in a vast hall. Suddenly, the room went dark. The speck of light where they came in from grew smaller and more distant until it disappeared.

Before they knew it, they were back in their Horde dorm, younger, and Catra felt tears in her eyes. She was gasping, having shot up from her bed and pulled her blankets up with her. A pair of eyes found hers; their brightness pierced the darkness.

Catra felt the bed shift under her, and she finally heard your voice for the first time: "Do you want a hug?" She accepted and pulled you down to lay with her, releasing her strong grip on the blanket so she could wrap her arms around the small body nestled into her chest. The bed shifted again so Adora could lay on your other side, where there was space.

"We can talk about it tomorrow," she said and reached her arm lazily over you to comfort Catra. From that moment, you were theirs. Theirs to protect from Shadow Weaver, theirs to hug when they got a nightmare, and theirs to hold just when they felt like it, because they could. Catra hated how familiar it all felt, how easily she relaxed into the comfort from you and Adora, and how she would give anything to return to that normal. It was that hatred that brought her back to the reality of the present.
