Goodbye

All I remember was the pain.

At first, it felt like my cells were drinking champagne. It was bubbly, and actually quite pleasant in the beginning. But then my cells started to fluctuate, and my muscles tensed.

I was mutating.

God knows what Baxter and Shredder put into this mixture. I felt my skin ripple. I was running out of breath.

My (y/h/c) hair was billowing out around me. I let some air out, feeling like a chipmunk.

My hair started to ripple, like my skin. It changed into jet black hair, then red, then brown, blonde, and finally settled back on the original.

My eyes hurt. I blinked. I couldn't hold in in anymore. I let out a breath, and breathed in.

Strangely, I could breathe.

Maybe whatever I was mutating into decided to keep me alive.

Through the hazy bright blue of the mutagen, I could see Tessa, the turtles, and April fighting FootClan soldiers.

" Retreat!!!" I heard Shredder yell. Fish-Face ran away, tripping on the release lever. I plummeted downward, out of the mutagen, and hit my head on the floor.

" C... Celeste... CELESTE!" I finally was able to hear. I looked around. Everyone was staring at me.

" What?" I asked. Then I remembered.

I took out my damaged T-Phone, and looked at my reflection in the dark screen. Normal face, normal hair, but my eyes matched the vibrant, blue green, swirling mutagen that was re-filling the container above me.

" Ah!" I dropped my phone.

" It's okay. We're going to get you back to the lair. You'll be okay." Donnie reached out, and put a hand on my shoulder. As soon as he touched me, my entire form rippled, recoiling away from his touch.

I looked at my hands. Then I realized something.

" Shape... Her..." Shredder had said.

" Shapeshifter!" I whispered. " I'm a shapeshifter, aren't I..."

" No... You're our friend." April said. She grabbed my hand. I rippled, and my body freaked out.

" Don't touch me." I yelled. " I'm a monster."

" No, you're not." A different voice broke the silence.

It was Raph.

" You're not a monster. If you just stop freaking out, we can get you fixed." Raph said.

Leo looked at Raph. He whispered in his ear.

" Don't let her leave the building. If she gets outside, it's possible we could never find her." Leo said.

Tessa-Lee was behind all of them.

" This is all my fault." She said.

" No, Tessa." I closed my eyes. " It's mine. If just didn't exist none of you would be in this mess."

" Don't say that." Tessa said. She walked up to me. " I wouldn't be here, without you. I'm sorry how I acted in the past."

" It's alright." I said. I could feel myself drifting away from my friends, and Tessa. Just, becoming an outcast.

Tessa looked at me, and we embraced.

" Maybe I'll see you again, in the future. Maybe I'll see you all. And we can leave this mess behind us, and we can be friends again." I said.

" Wait... What are you-" I cut April off. I looked back at Tessa. Her eyes were pleading.

" I'm sorry... Until next time." I whispered. Tessa brought a gentle hand to my face. My body rippled, until I became invisible.

I ran out of the building, running as far away as possible.

The others were still in shock. Donnie went over to the computer.

" Chameleon DNA. He used chameleon DNA." Donnie said.
