"What do you want for Christmas, Big Q?"
As the robotic voice read aloud the donation, Alex couldn't help but pause. Normally he would brush it off with a joke to keep the stream going, but he knit his eyebrows together in thought. What did he want for Christmas?
A soft smile crossed his face as he answered, "Honestly chat? All I want for Christmas is to see my partner." Alex's smile turned a bit bitter, "But that would be a Christmas miracle, huh?"
Alex glances to his window briefly, watching the gentle snow pillow on the ground outside. He remembers you mentioning it not snowing as much as it had last Christmas, meanwhile his area is getting record amounts of snow this year. He couldn't help but grin at the thought of you being there, enjoying the sweet December snowfall with him.
Shaking his head, he turned back to his stream. He watched chat run on his other monitor, and despite the speed he realized half the messages were being cute and sweet, while the other half were calling him a simp. He chuckled and continued playing his game, quickly getting back into the zone.
It was about an hour later when a knock hit his front door, knuckles wrapping against wood, creating an echo throughout the house. At the sound, Tiger awoke from a nap, meowing as he jumped off Alex's bed and headed for the door.
He sighed, "Give me a sec chat, I think someone's trying to break into my fuckin' house." With a laugh, he pushed back his desk chair and headed towards his front door.
Alex grips the cold metal handle, pulling the door back to see an unfamiliar figure standing in the snow, a dark scarf hiding their face and a black beanie on the top of their head.
"Um, can I help you?" He said, shifting on his feet.
"Well, you can help by letting me inside, it's fucking freezing out here!" You said, lifting your face from the scarf.
You thought you looked like a mess. Your hair was being blown about by the whistling wind, there was snow stuck to your heavy winter coat, and you knew your runny nose was a bright pink, matching your cheeks.
Alex thought you looked incredible. From your rosy cheeks, to your tousled hair–not perfect, of course, but you were there. You were his, and for the first time in months, you were within arm's reach.
"Y/N? I- you- what? When? How?"
You laughed loudly, "I landed in Mexico about an hour ago. I wanted to surprise you!"
Alex stares for a moment, a hesitant pause; he considers if he's dreaming, scared to touch you, scared that the moment he gets too close, he'll wake up alone.
Warm tears start to pool up in his eyes, an outburst of emotion that blocks his vision. "God- Y/N, I..." He trails off before finally pulling you into a bone crushing hug, burying his head in your shoulder as the tears begin to fall.
"Babe?" You say.
"Yeah?"
"Can we hug and cry inside? I'm kinda freezing my ass off out here."
He gives you a giggle as he pulls back from you, sniffling and wiping his tears as he steps aside to let you into his house.
After you finally shimmy off your coat, you turn to look at him.
"Hey, Alex," You say softly, cupping his cheeks, "don't cry, alright? I'm here. I'm right here."
Alex looks up at you, shiny brown eyes looking into yours like they're filled with secrets, brimming with things he could never understand. "But for how long?"
"As long as you'll have me."
At that, he slams into you, pulling you into another, far warmer hug. You kiss the top of his head, "I love you," you murmur into his soft brown hair.
"I love you too." You stay like that for a moment, just breathing in each other's presence, having gone too long without being able to do this.
Alex gasps and pulls away from you in a swift, jerky movement. "Oh shit!"
"What?"
"I'm still streaming!"
You laugh at your boyfriend as he grabs your wrist, pulling you up the stairs as you call, "You fucking idiot!"
"Chat, look!" He exclaims, showing you off to the camera, "it's a Christmas miracle!"
