"So?" Jasmine asked as soon as us four stepped out of Adan's study.
"They approved." I said and everyone instantly broke into smiles.
"Congratulations!" Jasmine yelped and hugged me after which she gave a small hug to Darius.
"Welcome to the family, Darius." Uncle Evan said.
"Thanks Mr. Stalin." Darius said as he shook hands with him.
"Drop the formalities, boy. Call me Uncle Evan." Uncle Evan said.
"Wait, wait. I wanna know everything about your relationship." Ava said as soon as we settled down in Adan's living room.
"Okay. What do you wanna know?" I said taking my seat next to Darius.
"Okay. First question," Ava got cut off by Aunt Anna.
"Wait. Let's get some coffee first. It has been a long day for everyone." She asked the house-help to make coffee for eveyone along with some freshly baked oatmeal cookies. Perfect combination.
"So, who liked whom first?" Ava asked.
"That'd be me." Darius said.
"When did you start dating?" Jason asked.
"Around 7 weeks ago, he asked me out. We went on a couple of dates. Two weeks back, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend and I agreed." I replied.
"Is that a ring? May I see it, please?" Leila said in excitement.
"Firstly, it's a promise ring." I said and she rolled her eyes.
"Of course I know that." She said as she took my right hand in hers and looked at the blue ring.
"Why'd you think I thought of it as an engagement ring?" Leila asked as she faked being offended.
"Both Jason and Dad thought that it was an engagement ring." I said and Uncle Ian laughed.
"What can we do, Sara? Woodwords men are dumb." He said and Dad glared at him.
"Don't make me kick your ass, Ian Knight. I'm still your elder brother." Dad warned. Dad and Uncle Ian are first cousins.
"Stop arguing you two." Aunt Anna scolded both of them.
"Fine! Fine!" Uncle Ian said as he put his hands up.
"Where did you go on your first date?" Chloe asked.
"Darius bought a yacht. Our first date was on a yacht." I replied.
"Ohh... Fancy." River said with a wolf-whistle.
They asked us so many questions for the next hour or so. They were really inquisitive and curious about our relationship.
Luckily, Darius didn't mind answering the questions and although he was a bit uncomfortable with them at first, he got used to it pretty quick.
He was so good with my family. He treated everyone with respect and acted as if he was very close to them. They too didn't make Darius feel as a stranger. By the looks of it, they've accepted him in the family and have started getting used to his presence already.
We drank our coffee and had our cookies all the while sharing stuff from our past and some incidents here and there. Everyone was chatting for the next hour, passing the time, waiting for baby Luca's arrival.
"Mom, when are Adan and Courtney getting home? I wanna meet my little nephew." Ava asked Aunt Emma. She was clearly getting impatient.
"I don't know. They should have been here by now." Aunt Emma replied.
"I'll give them a call." Enzo, Rose's husband said as he dialled Adan's number.
"They're on the way. Will be here soon." Enzo said after disconnecting the call.
"Great."
"I can't wait to hold our child in my arms." Adam said as he placed his hand on Chloe's still flat stomach.
Soon, we heard Adan and Courtney's car pull up. Everyone got up from their place and grabbed a couple of balloons. Leila bought out her camera and started clicking pictures of everyone. Darius and I held a banner which read, 'Welcome baby'. We've decorated the living room with teddy bear, blue, grey and white balloons, banners, confetti and what not.
"Welcome baby Luca!" We all said as soon as they stepped inside the room.
"Wow, you guys." Courtney said as she eyed the living room.
"Give him to me." Ava said as she excitedly took Luca in her arms.
Ava gave Luca a tour of the living room. He looked everywhere with his curious blue eyes.
Ava was talking to Luca as if he could understand everything. I saw everyone in the room talking happily to the new parents.
I saw River eyeing Ava with such adoration.
"Is there something going on between River and Ava?" Darius asked me and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Nothing that I know of." I replied.
"Let me take a picture of him." Uncle Evan clicked Luca's picture and set it as his phone wallpaper.
"So, I've officially been dethroned, huh?" Rose said, looking at Uncle Evan's wallpaper.
Her picture has been Uncle Evan's wallpaper for years now.
"Sorry, Rose. My son's way more cute than you." Adan said and got a punch from her.
