The sun rays were bright as they reflected through the crystal clear water, symbolizing the beginning of a new day. Down in the reef fish swam around as they searched for food and hid from predators.

Bakugou stirred awake from his slumber as he heard the yelling of his mother from outside of his room. Bakugou slowly stretched with a yawn as he got up from his large clam-like bed in one of the rooms of his cave home before placing an annoyed scowl on his face due to hearing another yell from his mother. "I'm coming old hag!" Bakugou yelled as he started swimming out of the slightly large room into the center of the cave.

Bakugou's black and orange tail pushed him effortlessly as he reached the main cavern. At his arrival Bakugou was greeted with a slap to the back of his head to which he growled lowly before turning to see his mother Mitsuki floating next to the entrance.

Bakugou's mother was basically the female version of himself, her tail was a vibrant orange mixed with some scattered scales of gold and a few more shades of apricot near the tip and around her waist where her skin faded to scales. The scales littered on her shoulders seemed to shine under the sunlight in their own bright combination of orange and gold. The fins at the side of her tail went from a vibrant orange to a sandy pale orange. Her eyes were a bright red and she had spiky blonde hair which flowed calmly with her movements in the water. She wore a strapless top also in orange that stopped midway down her stomach. She also wore gold earrings and a gold colored band on her upper left arm.

Bakugou had a few different shades of orange on his tail that mimicked his mothers, however the scales that connected his tail to his torso were black as they began clustered and seemed to scatter as they went down his tail. The tip of the tail had a similar pattern to the top as the end of the fin had clustered black scales that scattered as they went up. Bakugou's side fins faded from orange to black at the tips more fluently as they were thin silk-like fins. Bakugou himself had orange scales on his shoulders like his mother instead replacing the golden scales with shining black ones that seemed to shine under light like black glass that was polished until there wasn't a speck of dust remaining. His eyes were also a vibrant red like his mother's as he also held the same spiky ash-blonde hair.

Bakugou glared at his mother as she hit him upside the head a second time before she spoke. "What took you so long you damn brat?! Breakfast has been ready for the past half hour!" "I was asleep you old hag! Now stop yelling and hitting me on the head!" Bakugou yelled as he glared at his mother again. "Could you two please calm down.. breakfast will get cold.." Said a hushed voice behind the pair as they continued to argue. The two turned to the voice to be greeted by Bakugou's father floating silently near the kitchen waiting for his family to join him at the table. The blondes shot one final glare at each other before starting their way towards the table to join the quiet brown haired man.

Masaru looked very different to his son and wife. His tail was a dark seaweed green with a few lighter and darker green scales sprinkled over it. There were a few small clusters of black scales every here and there around the torso and the lower fin as his side fins also faded to black. Masaru had brown hair and brown eyes along with glasses made with dark colored coral and glass made of pressured minerals to create the transparent material.

Bakugou swam into his room after breakfast and went to grab the bag near his bed that he used just about everyday. The bag was a simple satchel that went over the shoulder. Bakugou grabbed his bag and put in his usual items as he prepared to do his usual patrol around the reef.

Every mer family like the Bakugous have their own coral reef home. When a mer finds their mate they move out of their family's reef to find their own reef to call home. Once a new reef has been claimed it is the responsibility of the family to protect their new home. Due to human trash having destroyed multiple homes, some families have began getting more protective of their homes.

Bakugou had began to do his daily patrol around the reef as he looked around in search for human trash or anything that may disturb the reef. Bakugou held a bored frown as he found nothing interesting happening around the large wall of colorful rocks surrounding the Bakugou home.

Bakugou suddenly caught something at the corner of his eye to which he quickly turned and pulled out a knife from his satchel with a growl. Bakugou's eyes turned to a glare as he recognized the bright green tail of the merman approaching him.

"The hell are you doing here Deku?!" Bakugou said through gritted teeth. Midoriya flinched slightly under the stare of the larger male before speaking. "I came with the new items your mother had asked for. My mom was going to come but she had things to do and couldn't make it." Bakugou scowled at the bag in the smaller boy's hands as he held it up.

Midoriya was slightly smaller than the ash-blonde in front of him. His tail is a bright green with darker green scales in patches like the freckles on his face. He had messy green hair along with emerald green eyes. Midoriya wore a necklace made from the string of an old fishing line that held three different corals. One coral was blue, another red and a center coral in yellow.

Bakugou swam out of the cave again as he left the conversation between his parents and his childhood rival. As he swam past the edge of the reef something shining caught Bakugou's eye. As Bakugou approached the shining object he noticed it was half buried in the sand. He picked up the odd object as he slowly studied it in his hand.

The next thing Bakugou knew the sun above him had suddenly been blocked. By the time Bakugou turned his head up to see the disruption he had been surrounded in a series of ropes and knots. Bakugou's eyes widened they went to a glare as he growled while scratching and pulling at the thick material. Bakugou could feel his tail get tangled as he continued to struggle through the restraints that were quickly pulling him towards the surface.

"Kachaan!" yelled the squeaky voice of Midoriya as he quickly tried to reach the net holding his blonde friend. Midoriya had gone in search of the blonde to call him for dinner as the family had been preparing. Once Midoriya had gotten out of the reef he spotted the larger male halfway to the surface of the water near a large human ship tangled in ropes at least about one inch thick.

Bakugou's head whipped towards the voice of the smaller male. Bakugou's eyes were wide as he approached the surface of the water. He then turns to the greenette swimming towards him as he speaks.

"Stay back... Deku"
