It was noon, and Y/n was now fully awake. Bakugou had been working to sharpen the jagged rocks he had found earlier to make some weapons when the female had begun to stir.
"The hell took you so long?" was the first thing to be said between them as Bakugou kept his eyes on the stone he was currently carving into a knife. Y/n simply looked at Bakugou as she rubbed her eyes and tried to refocus. In truth, hearing Bakugou's voice had startled her since she was so used to waking up to silence, but as the memories from before returned to her she calmed significantly. Though now she was confused about what he was asking . "Excuse me?" "It's noon dumbass, you've been sleeping since we got here, are you that damn lazy?" Was Bakugou's annoyed reply to her question. Y/n blinked as she finally understood the question and looked at him as she responded "Trench mers usually sleep from sunrise to noon and then become active at night when it is darker."
Bakugou looked up from what he was doing for a moment to look at her before going back to carving the knife. Y/n watched him for a moment before speaking again, "Why did you stay?" "Hah?!" "Why did you stay when you could have simply left?" It took a moment for Bakugou to understand the question before he realized what she meant. He gave off a 'Tch' before saying, "It's not like I have anywhere else to go. My home is basically across the ocean and it's not like I can make that in a day" "But you could have made progress with your travels as I slept" "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!! I DO WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT SO IF I WANT TO STAY I STAY, YOU GOT THAT??!!" Y/n simply blinked at his outburst as he had turned his head to face her. After his outburst Y/n simply nodded and said "Alright" before getting up and swimming towards her satchel.
Bakugou watched as the female grabbed her satchel and pulled out a knife and some raw meat before swimming towards the exit of the cave. "Where the hell are you going?!" was his immediate response towards her retreating form, stopping her at the entrance as she looked back at him. "I just woke up and I'm hungry, I'm going to look for something to heat up the meat, preferably a vent or something of the sort, would you like something to eat as well?" Bakugou grunted with a "Sure, whatever" as she left.
-Time Skip- (sleep and awake times 6am-8pm corals awake- 1pm-4am trench awake)
The roles were now reversed as Bakugou was now the one sleeping and Y/n was the one carving the stones he had previously been working on. Bakugou had been reluctant in going to sleep after eating due to the still evident lack of trust he had towards the female mer, but she had not tried anything yet and his internal clock did not give him a choice as he began to doze off, eventually he simply gave in and allowed sleep to overcome him. Y/n watched as Bakugou had started to doze off and waited a few minutes to see if he would stir or remain asleep. After she confirmed he was sound asleep she decided to occupy herself until he woke up since she knew it would be a while.
Y/n had found the few weapons Bakugou had been working on before when she had woken up. Y/n began to carve the knife Bakugou had previously been working on with her own knife. The new tool was simple and plain, a thin stone knife only a few inches longer than her hand. As she continued to sharpen the weapon she began to grow bored of the simplistic design. Y/n had worked with sharp tools and weapons from a very young age. As she grew older and learned how to make them the plain designs became tiresome to her. Therefore, she began to add engravings and designs to her weapons later on. As Y/n zoned out thinking back to when she had first tried to engrave a weapon she subconsciously began to carve the design into the knife from her memory.
A sudden shift in the water snapped Y/n out of the memory as she looked over to see Bakugou slightly turning in his sleep. Once Bakugou stopped moving he had turned so that he was facing Y/n, giving her a clear view of his face. Y/n watched for a few more moments to see if he would move again. When he didn't, Y/n chose to continue what she had been doing. But before Y/n could turn back to the knife she heard a soft snore that was then followed by a low murmur that she couldn't make out. As Y/n looked back at the male she noticed how he seemed to be sleeping peacefully. Bakugou's face was calm and relaxed, contrast to the scowl he would always wear when he was awake. Y/n watched for a few more moments as she studied the details in his face, from his slightly parted lips, to the gills near his neck that allowed the oxygen to enter his systems in a slow and calm rhythm. Once Y/n realised she had been staring she quickly refocused on the knife in her hand with a nearly unnoticeable pink tint on her cheeks out of embarrassment.
As Y/n looked down at the knife she then noticed the unfinished carving she had accidentally done on one side of the blade. "Might as well finish it now" she said to herself as she got to work on finishing the design. As she continued to carve the thin lines she began to drift again as she remembered her destroyed home. There was nowhere else for her to go. The rest of the night was peaceful, the cavern silent, as Y/n carved the knife with one question on her mind.
'What now?...'
