Bakugou was now swimming next to Y/n as she had made her scales glow a bit brighter to help him see ahead of him. Things had truly begun to feel more interesting between the two as they conversed.

Until...

It was so abrupt that neither of the mers had even had a chance to react.

Just as Bakugou and Y/n had been swimming through the dark water getting closer to the surface a bright light had blinded both of them without warning. The two had stopped swimming to shield their eyes from the sudden light as it suddenly began growing larger. Bakugou had managed to somewhat adjust to the strong light as he realized that it was approaching at an alarming rate. Bakugou looked to the side to realize that Y/n still held her hand over her eyes as she avoided the light, not noticing how close the object was getting. Bakugou quickly swam directly towards Y/n, forcing her back while he swam out of the light's way. As the light dashed by Y/n had finally been able to remove her hand from her eyes to recognize the object.

As the object continued to dash downwards the mers gained the chance to see what was producing the light. It had been a large cylindrical object that seemed to be as large as a cavern. The material of the large object seemed to be completely metal. At the end of the object there seemed to be three odd shaped shells that were also made of metal. The three metal shells were spinning behind the rest of the odd object rapidly, but not fast enough that they couldn't be seen.

After a moment of studying the object, Bakugou had finally managed to figure out what it was. It had been clear enough that the odd looking thing was made by humans, already letting them know that the item was most likely a threat. Bakugou remembered hearing about these objects from one of his old pod members from when they were younger. They still kept in touch as they grew older and he would pass by every once in a while. The description of the object had been almost exact to what had just passed them. The humans called some sort of ridiculous name, what was it?, subtrain? No it was marine something I think, damn for once I should have listened to shitty hair about his stupid surface trips, thought Bakugou as he continued to search for the name.

Submarine! Bakugou had finally found the word as he was no longer watching it, no longer deeming it a threat as it seemed to continue sinking deeper into the trench. Suddenly Bakugou felt a rush of water as a bright black and f/c tail pushed past him quickly. Bakugou turned back in the direction of the submarine as he saw the h/c haired girl swimming rapidly towards it with flashing scales, all ok most warningly. Now Bakugou was certain that this girl was crazy, did she not know how dangerous humans were? Or what kind of damage their creations could make? Before Bakugou could call to her and ask her what she was doing he finally noticed the direction the human machine was headed. She was well aware of the damage a human machine could do... which was why she was currently swimming full speed to stop said machine from crashing into her cave.

Bakugou was quick to start swimming as well. There was no way that she would make it to the cave in time and once that thing crashes the explosion it causes will definitely cause fatal injuries if not kill anything within its range.

Bakugou was not as fast as Y/n when it comes to swimming in this dark environment. The strong pressure only made Bakugou go even slower while the bandages wrapped around his tail had begun to loosen and dangle uselessly over his fins. The only thing the bandages were doing now was getting tangled between his side fins and starting to limit the amount of movement they had. Bakugou ignored the increasing difficulty of swimming as he chased after the blinking f/c light of Y/n's scales. It had taken them two hours to get to where they had been previously at a normal speed, but the human machine made it clear that it would arrive at the cave within moments.

Y/n was getting closer to the submarine, her side fins having a slight stutter at the speed she was swimming but not enough to cause a fault in her speed. Even when the she reaches the large object she knows that she won't be able to stop it. She is simply hoping that she'll be able to get to the cave before it and get something that she couldn't risk losing.

Soon Y/n was finally closing in on the large metallic cylinder. She was currently swimming right behind the three misshaped metal shells that continued to spin in circles at the back. As an idea popped in Y/n's head she removed her spear from around her torso and began to speed up her approach towards the spinning shells. Once Y/n had arrived within reaching distance she was forced to swim over the submarine to avoid the strong push of water the shells were producing. As Y/n held her spear she aimed as steadily as she could while swimming after her target. Her arm retracted with the spear in hand, and finally, she thrusted her arm forward with all her strength as she released it.

The spear had been aimed for the thin line in between the cone-shaped tip that connected the metal shells to the end of the submarine. About one-third of the spear had been buried into the thin line, leading to a sudden stutter in the spinning of the shells. The shells continued to stutter until they eventually stopped completely, now leaving the giant piece of metal to move with no control or function to alter the direction, to which it could only move forward as it sunk further down into the darkness of the trench. The light, however, never stopped. Still shining as brightly as before and still showing a clear route directly towards the cave within the wall that Y/n called home.

Even though the vessel was still moving, the speed had depleted enough that Y/n could quickly pass it, allowing her to reach the cave first. Bakugou was still swimming downwards with only the vessel's lights to depend on. Thanks to the decrease in speed Bakugou was fast enough to out-swim it as he continue to chase after the female who was now entering the cave. I swear this suicidal maniac is going to get us both killed, and then I'll personally kill her again myself! He thought as he approached the cave, the submarine still hot on his tail.

-In the cave-

Y/n was swimming through every room in the cave grabbing anything of value to her or useful for later. She had begun at the very back, in the last cavern where Bakugou had first woken up. There she collected as many medical items she believed that she would need, quickly placing them in her satchel. She quickly swam out of the room to go to the next. Y/n continued going from one room to the other until she finally reached the last room, being the one with the human looking items.

Y/n quickly grabbed both the wooden items as she swam out quickly heading for the exit. She had been swimming so quickly that she almost swam right into the vessel if it weren't for a strong for suddenly pushing her to the right. When Y/n had finally regained her focus she realized she was being pulled away from the vessel and the cave by a strong pair of arms with a black and orange tail behind her own with some seaweed tangled in the fins. Once Y/n finally looked up she saw the ash-blonde with furrowed brows as he focused on trying to see through the dark in front of him.

Once Y/n had snapped out of her thoughts and noticed Bakugou's struggle in seeing she began to light up her scales. She made the light brighter than it had been previously, bright enough that Bakugou could see ahead of him two times the length of his arms outstretched. As this happened Y/n removed herself from Bakugou's arms and began swimming beside him as he sped up slightly due to the loss of wait.

As the two had continued to swim up, Y/n turned her head over her left shoulder to see the final impact. The metallic vessel and just crashed into the cave, giving off a surprisingly large explosion as it destroyed itself and the female's childhood home. The explosion had caused the water to heat up drastically as the vessel released a large amount of pressure while also releasing all oxygen within it. Even with how far they had already gotten Y/n felt the change in the water as she turned her head forwards as she swam with her eyes downcast, sadness and regret clearly within them.
