"OWW!!" Bakugou yelled as he glared down at the female who sat on the sand in front of him wrapping his tail in new bandages.
"Maybe if you stopped moving it wouldn't hurt so much" she said plainly as she had stopped wrapping the lowest part of his tail where his tail fin began and then moved upwards slightly to focus on his side fins, frowning as she noticed that they were still tangled in the old bandages that had come loose during the heist a few hours ago.
"Thanks..." it was silent between the two as Bakugou took a moment to process what she said as she focused on his fins without looking up at him. Bakugou let out a simple 'tch' before he said, "I just made us even. So don't think I owe you anything!!" he slightly raised his voice for the last part.
Y/n simply hummed as she reached for her satchel and searched for something. As she did this Bakugou watched her every move. Her cave had been destroyed about two hours ago and since then they had kept swimming for about another half hour. Within that time they had reached the edge of the trench. It was about midday by then so there was some light near the edge. The light wasn't enough for the the water to appear the transparent blue that Bakugou was used to, but it was enough for him to see without the girl's glowing scales. After another twenty minutes the two had found a dimly lit cave in the ocean floor. The cave was small, it only held one cavern that had a hole on one end other than the entrance. The hole itself was small, it seemed big enough for one of them to fit their head through it, but that was about it. However, it did allow a small amount of light in, small enough that it wouldn't bother Y/n but bright enough so Bakugou could see clearly. Once they had arrived Y/n had offered to help him with his wounds to which he refused repeatedly, until he found out she wouldn't leave him alone until she could. And now here they were, Bakugou sitting on the sandy bottom of the cave with his back against the wall while Y/n sat with her tail folded underneath her beside his tail grabbing things from her satchel in front of her as she focused on the seaweed like bandages that were restricting the movement of his side fins.
After a few long minutes of awkward silence as Y/n carefully cut the seaweed on Bakugou's fins he finally lost his patience as he decided to finally ask the questions in his mind. "Why the hell didn't you move when that thing had first started heading for us?" he said as he watched for her reaction. Y/n remained calm as she continued to carefully remove the seaweed while speaking "I didn't see it". This only left Bakugou more confused as he narrowed his eyes at her and his brows furrowed "How the hell did you not see it?! It was a bright light! It shouldn't have blinded you for more than a few seconds" came his response. Y/n only sighed as she got rid of the last of the seaweed and finally looked up to him. "I'm a trench mer. Therefore, I'm used to being in the dark, so I had a hard time getting used to the new light." she explained, turning her head back towards his fins as she finished. Bakugou decided that he was satisfied with her answer, so he decided to just watch as she placed some sort of paste on the injuries that had reopened slightly. Bakugou still had plenty of questions but he decided that now was not the time to ask them.
-Time Skip-
Bakugou swam around outside of the cave they had been staying in as he searched for anything that could be useful for them later on. The trench mer currently keeping Bakugou's company was still asleep in the cave while the sun shone over the surface of the water. Bakugou had waited at first as she went to sleep once the sun had reached its peak and the morning ended. After sitting around for a few minutes wondering when the female would wake up, he quickly lost his patience and decided to scout around the new territory now that the sunlight had reached the deeper end of the ocean, allowing him to easily see everything around him.
After having his tail rewrapped Bakugou had wanted to see what the new terrain was like, but the female had been against the idea of him moving his tail too much. She had refused to let him leave the cavern so long as she was awake. Bakugou was very irritated as the girl voiced her disagreement towards his idea. Although he would normally ignore or confront anyone who tried to tell him what to do, he had soon discovered that this particular mer was unbelievably stubborn. But now that the female was asleep Bakugou had finally taken his chance to go.
At first Bakugou had thought of simply swimming away and going in search for his home on his own, but... he couldn't simply leave the girl after she had helped him, and even though his pride clearly refused to consider what she did helpful, he knew that he wouldn't be able to leave her behind after she had given him her assistance.
And so here he was, searching for materials and food that could sustain him... and the girl.
After collecting a few jagged stones and locating a strong current slightly closer to the surface, Bakugou began to venture back to the cave that was currently inhabiting the still sleeping mer.
Once finally inside, Bakugou was first greeted by the sight of the female laying on the sandy ground with her back towards him. Bakugou watched as the girl's body lifted slowly before lowering once again with her even breathing before he decided to go to the other side of the cavern to focus on the items he had collected until she wakes up.
This could be a while...
