From The Deep (Mer!Katsuki Bakugou x Mer!Fem!Reader)

Chapter 3

Bakugou slowly opened his eyes to see a very dim white light above his head. Bakugou quickly sprung off of the ledge that he was laying on as he became aware of his surroundings. Suddenly memories flashed back to him as to how he had gotten there.

~Flashback~

The largest shark of the three had charged at Bakugou from behind ready to strike his fins. Suddenly as Bakugou turned around to see the shark a spear flew straight into the shark's left eye. The shark stopped moving quickly and began to sink slowly into the abyss underneath. The other two sharks had fled as soon as the spear had entered their line of vision as Bakugou froze in shock. As Bakugou turned to see who had thrown the spear he noticed it was a female of a completely different race from his. Unlike the bright colors and thin transparent fins of his tail her tail seemed to contain a much darker color. The female's tail seemed to start in black at the side and then lighten slightly into a dark f/c as it faded towards the ends of her fin. Her fins seemed to look more like that of a perch fish's pectoral fin also fading from black to f/c. The scales that were f/c seemed to glow lightly in the darkness as she swam. Now the female herself wasn't something to overlook. She had h/l h/c hair and e/c eyes. She was wearing a somewhat sideways top with a sleeve that covered her right shoulder and arm while her left shoulder was exposed to the cold water. The top matches the colors of her tail as the sleeve shows to be separated in certain parts to show something that looked like the fish nets the humans used.

As the female came within a few meters of Bakugou he had finally stopped studying her. He had put his guard up as he was not sure if she was a threat but she just swam past him which confused him. The female had swam towards the sinking shark body that held the spear in its left eye. The female grabbed the spear and pulled it out while she held the shark's fin to keep it in place. Once the spear was removed blood came out of the place it had been flowing through the water. She grabbed the rope that had been attached at the end of the spear and right below the tip as she put it over her chest like a sash holding the spear against her back.

Bakugou was furious. Not only had she gotten involved in his problem but she also dared to ignore him afterwards. Finally he decided to speak to her. "Oi you damn extra" he yelled causing the female to turn her head towards him. "I didn't need your damn help" was what he said next to which the female blinked and finally spoke "alright then. I apologize for bothering you. You just seemed to require assistance due to the fact that you are still leaving a trail of blood" she said calmly. Bakugou looked down to finally notice the large amount of blood floating around him as his tail fin slowly moved it around with the water to keep him in place. Not too long after the female spoke again " you're clearly not alright. You've lost a large amount of blood and those wounds will get infected if you don't treat them soon. I've never seen your race before so you're clearly not from around here meaning you have no where to go. If you'd like I can offer you shelter till sunrise." Bakugou looked at the female untrusting as she simply waited for his response still holding the fin of the dead shark that she had been carrying since she got it. Although he knew that she may be a threat Bakugou was well aware of the fact that if he doesn't accept her offer he could actually die in the middle of nowhere. "Fine, but you better not try anything!" He finally responded to which the female simply nodded as she turned back to swim in the direction that she had come from.

Bakugou followed the female as she swam downwards into the black abyss underneath. Bakugou was rethinking his choice as the water pressure became stronger and his tail began to move even slower than it already was. As Bakugou struggled to find his way around with the lack of light he followed the female's soft glow which truly did seem to be coming from her f/c scales. The light was slightly brighter than it had been before since they were deeper in the water allowing Bakugou to make out most of her features almost perfectly. However the blood loss Bakugou had experienced had finally reached its climax as he finally felt himself loose conscience to which complete darkness finally consumed him.

~Present Time~

Bakugou had noticed his tail covered in a thick seaweed that covered all of the scales that had been cut by the glass shards that were no longer there. The seaweed was attached with some sort of paste in a way that would not interfere with his fins.

Bakugou began to swim around the slightly large cavern he was in that seemed to hold many small patches of soft lights against the roof and walls. As Bakugou looked closer he realized that the soft lights actually turned out to be small groups of bioluminescent creatures. It was uncommon for Bakugou to see creatures like these since he mostly lived in the sunlight and he only ever saw them in caves when he explored new caves and such. He suddenly wondered if bioluminescence was what had allowed the female's scales to glow in the dark.

As Bakugou continued to study the cavern he decided to see the rest of the place. As he wandered out of the cavern he watched as the cave seemed to extend somewhat like a hallway. Bakugou studied the circular structures of the halls and all the bioluminescent algae that seemed to create an aligning pattern on the top of the hall. Unlike the soft white lights of the cavern made by the small creatures the green light of the algae was slightly brighter making it easier to look around. As Bakugou continued down the hall he found the entrance to what seemed to be another room except that unlike the others this one had much less light. Bakugou remained in front of the room for a few minutes trying to see if he can make out anything in the darkness. Suddenly Bakugou noticed movement in the darkness.
