After some time, the pair had finally found a tavern close enough to the surface where sunlight could easily alert them of the morning. The tavern was large with three smaller caves inside.

Bakugou moved to the cave furthest to the right and cleaned it out of any excessive seaweed so he could rest.

Y/n had moved to the tavern in the further left. The left cave was slightly deeper than the other two, making it the more preferable option to imitate her previous home.

After settling in, Bakugou was quick to go to sleep in order to hopefully accelerate the process to get home faster.

As for Y/n, after carving nearly every rock she could find, and hunting enough food to last them a few days, she finally gave in to her boredom and swam out of the cave in search of something to do.

Outside the cave, it was nearly pitch black due to the lack of sunlight. Y/n swiftly swam through the ink black water with her scales lit dimly, not enough to catch attention, but enough for her to easily see.

Eventually, the (h/c)nette's head broke through the surface of the water, revealing the nearly identical black abyss above her head littered with white specks.

The only sound she could hear was the occasional shallow wave that washed over her shoulders as she floated peacefully for a few minutes.

It wasn't too long before the silence was suddenly interrupted by a soft hum.

At first nearly mistaking the sound for the wind, Y/n spun quickly in search for the tune.

After a pause, she finally pinpointed the voice as it grew stronger. With a flick of her tail, she turned in the direction of the sound and started swimming quickly.

The closer the voice became, the more Y/n felt her curiosity grow into a need.

Suddenly, the voice felt like a lifeline.

It wasn't long before Y/n managed to spot a silhouette on a large rock. As her eyes easily adjusted to the dark within a distance, she came to recognize a female with short hair.

The female's face seemed to be blurred out to Y/n, but the tail shone a dark purple throughout the base. Unlike that of a mermaid however, her tail and dorsal fins shared the same vibrant lilac color instead of the dark colors of the base. The tail fin faded to a near transparent purple starting from the top of the fin. Whereas the dorsal fins were a single fin starting from the bottom of her waist to the beginning of the fin.

As Y/n continued to approach the figure, she came to realize the female wore a top that appeared to be made from land materials - most likely scavenger from the sea floor or found floating with the waves - mostly a basic black cloth stopping half way down her stomach to avoid interference with the fins.

It's uncommon for mers to wear attire made with land materials, considering their tendency to cause unnecessary resistance from absorbed water and interfering with their mobility. Yet Y/n couldn't seem to focus long enough to pay the unusual attire any mind.

As Y/n finally got within arms length of the rock she managed to see a pair of onyx eyes staring back at her as she felt herself stop swimming in favor of floating in front of the female.

Suddenly, Y/n felt the world around her blur.
