Everyone wants a happy ending to a story, right? Unfortunately, that'll have to wait.

My boyfriend is still underneath Ambrosius' control. I am, too, except I've been just fighting to defy it. The only thing that made Damien come back to me - even for a brief moment - was the small note underneath the table. I wanted to kiss him again, because that was really the only way I could bring him back to reality. He's always talked about how much he loved me, but when have I actually return his love? It was more of a flight or fight moment and I wanted to express that feeling to him as much as I wanted more of his blood. I couldn't find the time to really find a moment for it.

I kept glancing at the small note without making it look suspicious. 'Hiding in plain sight', huh? Damien averted his attention to his steak. I frowned when he shakily grabbed at the steak cutter. I guess somewhere in there, he's still hurt when he tried to kill me. I knew that would break him.

It's been rough the past few weeks, and it's only April. I was just in school, learning like a normal human being. I made a human friend, who accepted me for who I was, before she knew my secret. My history teacher, hasn't made any form of contact with me and Damien since we fled Exeter. I assumed the worse. I assumed that he - along with everyone else in town, thought I was just someone covering up my tracks. They probably marked me as a 1st degree murderer.

We can't go back, we can't ever go back. The log cabin held way too many memories to name for us, and we pretty much packed up everything we had to haul into Damien's truck. He must've felt heartbroken for leaving the cabin. I was surprised, because I felt that he would've wanted to stay home. I then figured that he didn't want a home without me, and I smiled at the thought.

"Are you both okay?" the waitress who served us strolled over. Her name was Holly and she looked kind of familiar to me. Holly's hair was pulled back for safety regulations and wore her cap on. Her uniform was dressed neatly and I couldn't quite put my finger on where I've seen her. "Oh, and also, your meal has been taken care of for the evening."

Damien and I exchanged confused looks, and then glanced at her oddly. I wanted to pay for our meal, even though I couldn't taste really anything. I just could only suppress my hunger by just distracting myself. It was mine and Damien's night out just to get away from everything.

"What do you mean?" I asked, almost innocently.

"Oh, the nice gentleman back at the Hawthorne Hotel called us." she mentioned to me. "He gave us his card information and said that he wanted to make the night special for you both, so you don't need to worry about anything else." Her smile was sweet, but deceiving. If I could have goosebumps, I'd be shriving up right now. "He said his name was Ambrosius."
